I arrested in Pattaya for I used e-cig

I had a similar arrest last June. Initially the cop was asking for 30,000 and after attempting to - and succeeding in frightening me (with threats of "you go jail") - I eventually offered 15,000. Was relieved to walk away from S 9, but this was a most unpleasant episode and first hand experience of the corruption existing within this country`s police service.

 

Apology in advance for playing devil's advocate here but why is a corruption? And even if it was a corruption, isn't this a win/win situation?

If the police followed the law strictly, you would have been in worse situation.

 

Are you serious, stupid or just on some sort of weird wind up?

A copper arrests me, threatens to have me put in jail, quotes B30,000 to release me, then some 45 minutes after stopping me in the street lets me walk from the station after pocketing B15,000 and you ask "why is a corruption?"
Let me ask you something, if what I described initially was not an act of corruption by the policeman, what in fact was it?

 

Now my first post was relatively polite to (hopefully) have a meaningful discussion. Now you are acting like a ****.

Thailand is so outdated now with all the new studies and reports, but as everyone has said, thailand is all about the buck and if they can get it from you for their pocklet they will.
Mean while I see thais vaping in the airport every single time I come and go.

The system in LOS is so corrupt and remains that way and anything they can do to extort they will. I Love the place, love my wife and family but the authorities are absolutly corupt to the core, top to bottom, and I dont see that will ever change here.

I hope you can pay them off, thats all they want and get back to your life a home soon.

Vape meetings are a thing of the past. We don't want to be caught at some bar or restaurant vaping.

Things of the past is also playing bridge and darts. They banned that too.
