So being new to spaced coils and particularly temp control vaping, can I get any tips ref. Wicking a spaced coil without ruining the spacing?

Only thing I can think of is twisting the cotton thin and then untwisting once through the coil. Making the coil is no problem...nor is completely stuffing it up with the wick and ten spending ages re spacing the damned thing. Lol

@Scratchy mentioned a double entry method.
Personally I wick the exact same way albeit slightly more delicately.

Ahem, it's double insertion Senor Rick. Either way it's sounds pretty porn-like.

For reference a pic below. I found it works pretty well, especially with thinner-gauged Ni-200 but have also done it in the standard way but that sometimes requires an additional step fixing the bunching up and distortion of coil wraps. I do that with a very small flat head screwdriver.

Tight twisting and then untwisting works great too, I have been using this method for a few months now for both Kanthal and NI200. I find the biggest cause of hot spots or burn taste is unwicked space in a coil. Tight packing makes that impossible. I don't fluff out the wicks ether and I have no wicking problems.

It's worth noting that the YiHi chips (350J at least) have a lower recommended /minimum resistance. Whilst it probably won't vape noticeably better you can use thicker wire. I use 29ga on mine but I'd prefer some 26/27 to get more surface area at 0.065r

I have 28 but only uding it on a lemo 2 atm so long logs and low wraps. Very hard to get to 0.65. I have to get hold of a
Dual coil tank that's worth it and some 26g. Preferably from the same place. Lol

Best I managed was a 2mm id. .08 so far. 10mm legs made it a 5 wrap coil. I'll play with an Rda later on.

That's definitely an advantage of the Yihi chips. Less wraps or you can go with thicker Ni200. Lowest I have gotten to fire consistently on DNA40 was .08 but that discovery was an accident by way of me miscalculating wraps. I am always at or very near the published minimum of .10

Got a Mini in vapemail today. My only question will be if 50J is enough to fully heat a dual 26g even at minimum ohms. 30J is enough for the .08 28g so hopefully all will be good. But as per OP nee to temp control and Ni200. So we shall see. Lol

Been using 29ga at 0.12 - 20J/330f and had been vaping great on the Lemo Drop. Had a few issues where it's been left for a while and registers as no juice, I found it need to be shut down and rebooted to set correct resistance after. Hopefully the update will cure that.

I did try some twisted 29ga, came out at 0.09 and at 30J you can certainly notice the difference in ramp up time.

If not then the below could be your answer

120 WATTS OF MADNESS FOR YOUR YIHI
If the equation is - A: You love your SX Mini and
B: You love Power-Vaping with a passion then the answer is this brilliant extension-tube. The bar has just been raised to 120 Watts!

    • Use 2 x 18650 batteries in your SX-Mini.
    • SX-Mini will now run at a max of 120 watt.
    • Insulation wraps and conductivity pad for the batteries.
    The power:
This ingenious battery extension tube for the SX-Mini and SX-Mini M Class will allow you to put an extra battery in your favourite High End, Space Age, Super Advanced vaper and thereby add "Steam Hammer" to it's credentials.
You can now go as high as 120 Watts - that's a lot and it takes a lot of consideration and attention to detail to press an e-cigarette up that far.

    The safety:
Yihi is more than up to the challenge. You get a set of special PET insulators to wrap around your batteries to avoid any chance of a short circuit. You also get an adjustable conductivity pad to put between the two batteries and thus ensure optimal conductivity.

    The mounting:
The extension tube is easily mounted on the Mod. You simply put an extra battery underneath the first one and then attach the extension tube. Simple, yes...but highly efficient and well designed.

    The bottom line:
This is a fantastic way to securely add more power to your SX-Mini/SX-Mini M Class and safety is very important when you are dealing with a massive 120 Watts in a e-cigarette.

Please note that you can use the 120 W in Watt-mode only. They will have no effect in Joule-mode.

    Features:

    • Stainless Steel design.
    • 2 x PET wraps for batteries.
    • SX-Mini will be able to run up to 120 Watts.
    • Adjustable conductivity pad for placing between the batteries.

    Purchase is for:

    • 1 x Extension tube.
    • 2 x PET Battery wraps.
    • 1 x Adjustable conductivity pad.
    • User manual
*Note: 120 Watt is for using in Watt-mode only. Not in Joule-mode.
*Purchase is for above listed items only. Other products are shown as inspiration.
*It is strongly recommended that you use batteries of 30Amp or higher.

    But probably not ;)

The SnowWolf could be an option, though it's by no means mini

Thanks for describing, Mack! I just tried this method and it worked well with only the smallest of adjustments to one coil wrap afterwards. Seems to be wicking nicely together with my standard but conservative wick-thinning method. 29 ga Ni200, 3mm id, 7 wraps @ 0.12 on KF V4.

Not sure other than importing. Big or Micky got a metre or two to be getting on with? I guess for the Invader you'd want 30ga+
