I was going to do some cleaning and maintenance on a few of my mechanicals this weekend. They are brass/ss, and there's some tarnish/oxidation on the inside of the switch so I need to disassemble. Some of the areas will be hard to reach to polish the brass. I remember you guys were soaking it in stuff. I forgot what it was. Thanks.

you can use viniger or mild hydrochloric acid(Muriatic acid), toilet cleaners contain up to 20% just rince them afterwards in water and dry.

i use to use vinegar, but a scotchbrite pad works better and instant.

i carry a small piece of scotchbrite in my wallet now for emergency cleaning.

The very best is powdered citric acid DD. 10 min soak. Brasso if you really want that final bling.

You got a good choice range there- Vinegar and Sugar, Powdered Citric Acid, toilet cleaners, Lemon Juice, Scotch Brite. ......... the list goes on.
Maybe you could let us know which one you get the best results with?
