1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

Not sure about the state of bars in Pattaya but I know that at least here in Samui many local/expat owned bars struggle in the low season, would be very tempting for them to take up an offer like this - that's a scary thought.

So turn them in and gain 5k, don't turn them in and get fined 100k.. pretty much making "an offer you can't refuse"

Actually, the 5k goes to the expat "snitches" being employed by the BiB...the poor bar owner just gets fined if he gets caught allowing someone to vape in his bar (no upside).

Ah crap, that's horrible then! I thought the bar owners were being employed as snitches. So what they basically got told is "we have undercover expats getting paid to report people vaping in bars. If someone is caught in your bar, you get fined 100k" ?

Exactly! A real sh*te sandwich...and they're also being paid to report nudity, etc., etc., etc.

TiT...and they're going to call it "Happy Street" (instead of WS)...they have a cruel sense of humor (and the new Tourism Minister is a lady)... :(

Huh. I fear the following chain of events: Fun gets taken out of WS, people start coming back to Soi Reggae, government people notice, similar regulations (including vaping) eventually spill over here too and Soi Reggae gets turned into Soi Flower or something... However way you look at it, doesn't seem to be any improvements in the near future :chinrub:

There goes all the fun in Pattaya!

Killjoy Happy Street for me from now on.

Who in their right mind still wants to go there if everything is going to forbidden anyway?

Paying 5k is bad , but it is certainly a lot less then nrs i heard here before , 25k /30k . Now 5k is still crazy , but if that is the only fine , i'm ok with that ( meaning , i'll take 5k above smoking and above inprisonement and 25 / 30 or 100k ) .

5K isn't the fine, its the commission given to the snitches.. average fine according to reports seems to be in the range of 40-50k.

The Bt 5K is paid to the expat 'snitches' who report the vaping...the guy caught vaping is liable for whatever the BiB think they can extract from them. ;)

The 5k is what the snitch gets for telling the police, not the one who is getting caught, they will try to get 50k from the vaper getting caught!
