1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

I think the guy in the clip and also the police miss understand something.
    IMO,

    1. He try to tell you that the government not allow to buy and sell e-cig because it is imported without TAX. (he said the word "VAT" and "government".)
    2. The police try to suggest you that you should not carry the device when you go outside. (he try to tell with the word "cannot" and "pocket".)

The guys in that clip is lucky. I think that police have a goodwill on telling him (even he probably miss understand).
In many case I found myself, they won't let me go without paying "Fine". (If you live here long enough, you would know what I mean by "FINE")

BTW, that police smile when the guys said "here is voltage, wattage and battery life". LMAO

I think you are actually right, it is probably more a misunderstanding than anything else.

I get stopped often by police with my bike but I never have to pay a fee as everything is in order, they like to point out I "could" be fined for various bogus reasons tho, last time because I was riding on the right side of the road for example while you have to ride on the left when on a bike (on the little crappy side lane, no matter if you are actually riding faster than everyone else).

BTW smoking in public is actually forbidden in Thailand, except in areas that are clearly indicated as smoking areas, the law is never applied tho like so many others but I used to get fined in Bangkok for smoking in public a few years back.

On a side note, speaking Thai actually helps a lot when you get stopped by the police but it is always a flip of a coin whether you will have to pay a "fee"or not.

Never had that happen but I got nabbed on Sukhumvit near Soi Nana for dropping a finished butt down the sewer. They opened the bidding at Bt 2,000 (!!)...smiling all the while. I think we settled on Bt 500...and that was the last time that ever happened.

Thats how i used to do, never got a fine or a friendly talk with the police.. And i Vaped arround nana station, walked by 4-5 cops while i was vaping, they just smiled and nodded and smiled, maybe they just was rental cops or they supported me getting of the stinkies :)
Overall i must say i never had any problems with cops/security i offer them to look in My bag at stations and malls but they just wave me by..

I disagree with LOTD-- I used to drive all over Thailand, just about every province, and my spoken Thai is fairly good but I NEVER speak to Police at roadside check points on Thai-- this can open up a means of communication and, without that, they usually send you away very quickly, and with Thai they want to know a lot of stuff.

Ridiculous, I had no issues in general but was asked to refrain from vaping indoors at 2 bars in Pattaya
