It's funny how we all tend to grow along our own paths vaping. At times the learning curve gets tough but we plow through and finally enjoy chilling with a great vape after we crest the hill and begin to coast. At one point I had my micro coils down. I could build nearly anything to a taste I enjoyed. My Kayfun always had a perfect 1.2 Ohm coil, wicked just right so as to draw up all the juice needed yet not wind up flooding and gurgling either. I could build any of my RDAs so that the wide open draw could play perfect with right right amount of heat and vape perfect in the range of 3.6 to 4.2 volts.

About this time last year this is exactly where I was. It was also about the time I found I wanted more challenge. I started playing with twisted wire, clapton wire and other fun things you could do with a simple hand drill to create better flavor at around the same wattage. I also found fasttech and couldn't help but all kinds of new extremely inexpensive attys. I found some killer deals on mods as well including an FUHattan. It turned out the warehouse (tiny office really) my FUHattan was coming out of was fairly local so I went and will called it in person. As I was there I saw where they had a wall full of stock of cloned attys and mods. So I grabbed one of the new famed plume veil attys as well.

Playing with all of these new toys and new wraps of wire I started to lose my grip on how to build perfectly for each device. Nothing seemed to go just right. There was always something off. A lot of my new attys seemed inferior and didn't live up to the claims of other I had read on the net. That Plume Veil turned out to be the biggest disappointment of all. No matter what I did with it, it was never right. At the time I had so many other new things to play with so it got tossed into my parts bin. I was at a vape shop at one point when I mentioned my experiences with it to the shop's owner and he told me to bring it in and he would fix me up. He did what he thought was best and I left with a .13 ohm dual coil twisted 22 ga. build. That certainly didn't help me love it any more. it just turned it into any angry beast with crappy airflow.

Well today digging through my bin I ran across my old enemy. Popping her open I saw the old angry build and thought let's give it another shot. I dry burned the coils and blasted them clean then rewicked. Holy moly that thing was angry! So I tore it down once again. I then took a 1/16" drill bit and cleaned up all of the holes in the base and the top air flow. All four of them were full of tiny metal shavings from manufacturing. I then fiddled with 5 different builds in it until this last. Dual 26ga 7 wrap at .4 ohms. BAMMM! Just Right! Now I can see what the fuss is all about. This is a great tasting vape with an impressive hit for sure. Just the right amount of heat and flavor for days.

Anyways guys I just want you to know there are gonna be times and even long stretches when things just don't go right. Stick with it.... maybe even put it to the side for a while but make sure to always give it another go. It will eventually reward you and you'll be back coasting down that hill enjoying that vape.

    Luscious clouds to you all,

Nice write-up and encouragement to others @TheRedlines !

The Plumeveil gets it's fair share of criticism, particularly for potentially leaking from the bottom air holes but even after all this time it still gets mentioned as a great flavor atty. I've had mine set mine aside for a few months while I used other RDAs but based on flavor production alone, I would still consider it in the top three in my collection.

Back to the Plumeveil leaking, I would have that only very rarely and only when over-dripping or if I re-wicked and hadn't positioned the wick tails very well.

Thanks for the good words Scratchy. I have to say, with this build naturally putting out 40 watts @ 4.2, I am shocked at the flavor. I am really digging my most hated atty LOL. I am not really having an issue with the post airflow leaking then I go as short as I can with the tails and use beauty coil rayon. That may have something to do with it. The issues I have with it now is the very loose stock drip tip and a very tight top cap o-ring. I want to be able to pop the top cap to drip and this one is nearly impossible to separate without pulling the entire cap and shoving my thumb up inside. It doesn't even turn to allow adjusting of airflow so once it is set, it's set. I just have to go through my o-ring spares and find something that will work nicer.

The Plume Veil is also one of my top RDAs. As long as I don't overfill it, I don't have a leakage problem.

I had the same issue and found an o-ring spare that completely resolved it. :)

I found a spare O-Ring that worked perfect and my favorite drip tip fits nice and tight allowing me to drip easily. This is one you have drip conservatively and often in order to not piss out. It's great for hanging out and enjoying yourself.
