Recently, due to suspicion that the stainless steel wire I've been using is not correctly labelled, I ordered some wire from the Mesh Company, located in the UK, which is used by many UK vapers. I ordered on the 26th of January and delivery occurred on the 2nd of February, so they're quick.

My order included SS316L, SS304 and SS430 in a variety of different gauges. They messed up on one of six, labeling it 29awg when in fact it is 27 awg.

I set my RX200 and Evic Mini VTC M1, M2 and M3 to 88, 101, and 140 respectively, the TCR values for 316, 304 and 430. Using the same atty and the same juice, each wire vaped at the same temperature. Around 235 - 240 celsius, although the 430 required an extra 5 degrees to get the same taste. Other attys have at most about a 5 degree celsius variance in temperature using the same wire.

No SS wire I have purchased previously has "respected" the theoretical TCR values. These are the first. And what's more, all 3 wire types conformed to the theoretical TCR....

I surmise that some of the wire we're being sold by our vendors isn't what it says on the tin. I recommend this company if you're looking for wire vendor. They have everything: kanthal, nickel, titanium, SS...

EDIT: I forgot to mention that they're also cheap. £1.25 for 10m, which is about 63 baht. Considering I've been paying 350 baht per 10m, it's a great price.

Fun fact: They have 3 websites... Crazy Wire Company Ltd is one, where i buy my wires from, in total durring last month alone i bought over 2km of wire, Kanthal and SS, as some of you might have seen under Coil porn :p You often get the 5th roll of wire for free and im always ordering 100m or more of some awg´s.. They are fast as stated above, helpful support, and i recomend you to get your wires from here...

By comparison: wire ordered on Fasttech (flagged as in stock) on 22/02, price £1.95 per 10m spool. Order shipped 29/2. Still not delivered

Wire ordered from The Mesh Company on 26/02, price £1.25 per 10m spool, delivered 02/03.

    No comparison.

Damn, I hope you're not vaping 2km of wire a month!!! Regardless of it's relative merits compared to smoking, I reckon that much vaping must be harmful

Haha yeah.I made this beautiful 28/34awg clapton coil tonight using a drill and large gauge hypodermic with a hole drilled laterally through the end about 1mm from the point. It produced a perfect clapton wire and a beautiful coil. Unfortunately none of my attys could actually fit the coil. The post screws have heads too small to grip the clapton or, if they can grip, the chamber is too small to accept the coil without a short against the barrel of the coil chamber. Disappointed!!!

Got myself some SS430 and 316L from them the other day. Using custom TCR values, their 316L is slightly better-behaved than what I had been using previously but still, the Cuboid, with it's built-in inaccuracy, requires I set the TCR to about 102 to have an accurate vape temp-to-setting correspondence (Default TCR according to different sources should be 88 or 92). Previously, with the other 316L I had been using, the TCR needed to be set to 105.

As for the Cuboid's preset SS316L profile, like with the previous SS316L wire I had been using, it runs too hot but not quite as hot as the previous.

Look forward to trying this wire on a DNA200. I expect, like most all setups across all attys on DNA200 mods, it will work very well. It'll also be a better test for these wires than using the Wismec/Joyetech mods which can have quite different behaviors across different attys and build setups. My observations above are based only on the specific combination I was using at the time.

Actually I have to say that of all the three wires, I think the SS430 is the most consistent. I'm only going on two attys and two coils of vaping, so time will tell, but my order of preference so far in terms of TC consistency is SS430, SS304, SS316L. It's a pity they only stock the 430 in odd gauges....

I was going to try the SS304 but in the end held off because not so many glowing reports from people using it compared to 316L or 430. 304 is supposed to be pretty good though. I look forward to trying the SS430 as it is quite well-received by a lot of TC vapers who have used it. Good to read you like it too. Will report back after giving it a go. Already have a SS430 profile on one of my DNA200 mods waiting for it. :)

I've given up on the preset ss316. I only use the M profiles. I suspect the preset is still closer to ss304 despite the claim that it's updated for ss316....

Based on all the input I have come across, people who use SS430 consider it better than other types they had experience with. Who knows as so much of it is subjetive anyway.

I think being so very similar to 316, probably not much to be gained but inetrested to hear your thoughts.

I'm not surprised as any twisted or other multi-wire sorts of builds with TC are far more prone to problems than say a single wire, spaced coil setup.
