Do I believe the report....NO. It's Japanese, and no mention, who is the researcher or who paid the money for the "research". If it's a governmental initiative, its not to believe anyway. What I like to know is, how the test or "research" was done. But as always that is not published.

    Link worked for me..
Strange out of all the tests done by Western countries this has never been mentioned before
I fully agree that things do need to be tested but also then backed up with solid evidence about it

I do hope this isn't true and also hope someone will counter act against this one way or another saying it right or wrong it doesn't matter to me, as long as we know for sure...

    Link worked for me, too.

Would like more information as to how the testing was done, juices sampled, mods used, etc., etc., etc.

Truly hope it's not true...I tend to think that Dr. Farsolinos would have told us about this before now if it were the case...

I asked those types of questions in a comment I posted earlier to the article...waiting for it to be posted. Hope someone comments that without that information the article may be cherry-picking and leading to an inaccurate conclusion without knowing facts and conditions and whether or not the testing conditions match those faced by the vast majority of vapers.

Farsalino pointed out before that only at high power levels did formaldehyde levels reach those of stinkies.

Ah my comments now posted under the article.

Wow, there are three people who dislike you asking for details about it! I wonder why? Or maybe they don't want you to ask these questions?
    **Updated**
Forgot to mention that these dislikes are from the Bangkok Post comments Scratchy made!

Here the article Bangkok Post build theirs after : The Channel News Asia

Vapour from e-cigarettes contains 10 times more formaldehyde - used in building materials and embalming fluids - as compared to smoke from regular cigarettes.
[IMG]E-cigarettes should be banned from indoor public spaces, according to the World Health Organization. (AFP/Kenzo Tribouillard)
TOKYO: E-cigarettes contain up to 10 times the amount of cancer-causing agents as regular tobacco, Japanese scientists said Thursday (Nov 27), the latest blow to an invention once heralded as less harmful than smoking.

A team of researchers commissioned by Japan's Health Ministry studied the vapour produced by e-cigarettes for signs of carcinogens, a media report said.

The electronic devices - increasingly popular around the world, particularly among young people - function by heating flavoured liquid, which often contains nicotine, into a vapour that is inhaled, much like traditional cigarettes, but without the smoke.

Researchers found carcinogens such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde in vapour produced by several types of e-cigarette liquid, TBS television reported.

Formaldehyde - a substance found in building materials and embalming fluids - was present at levels 10 times those found in the smoke from regular cigarettes, TBS said.

Researcher Naoki Kunugita and his team at the National Institute of Public Health submitted their report to the ministry on Thursday, the broadcaster said. Neither the scientist nor anyone from the health ministry were immediately available to confirm the report.

In common with many jurisdictions, Japan does not regulate e-cigarettes, which can be bought easily on the Internet. However, unlike in some Western countries, they are not readily available in shops.

In August, the World Health Organization called on governments to ban the sale of e-cigarettes to minors, warning they pose a "serious threat" to unborn babies and young people. The UN health body also said they should be banned from indoor public spaces.

Actually, the research was a study on 5 brands and several samples. They found abnormal levels of formaldehyde in only one of those brands and those levels weren't constant through the experiment. It reached this 10 times number only when there was over heating of the resistance.
Source : french source of the same news. I don't know what brands were tested, what were the condition, how the overheating was reached...

This doesn't matter for the bangkok post anyways. All the e-cigarettes device in the world are now have now 10 times more carcinogens than cigarettes.

All the BKK post does is quote and copy what's already out there, it is all over the net with this same info as the BKK post published.

If you want more information on this Japanese testing read here
This is the full report, totally misquoted in the press, and demonstrates outdated methodology:
