Not an issue as such but more a technical question, so I hope I have this in the right forum.

As I understand it the MAIN differences between the mech and variable mods is the the mech is fixed power, regulated with a kick regulator if fitted. Also there are no chips or displays inside it to run because of this so I would asume a longer battery life as well. And the firing button is mechanical as well by closing a circuit with the battery as opposed to closing a circuit electrically.

Apart from the above I am sure there are more differences between the types as well and probably reasons to do with vaping quality as well for all I know.

Can someone please pass on their knowledge to me as to why they consider Mech mods the only way to go? I need educating on this subject.

    Cheers

1st thank you for the genious post, exactly the question i had on my mind as well .....

i for myself figured so far that i kinda like the bigger Body Mods more then the small iTaste / eGo fully electronically regulazied thing,
they are always goog to vape, but never something special ...

but the Mods, no matter which one it is, they always give some sort of a kick to the vape, i cant really explain why, and for what reason, i am trying to figure out the the WHY myself atm.

I stand corrected. knew I would have something wrong in there somewhere. :completely forgotte

But are they the main differences other than that? If so why are they considered to be so much better than vv/vw mods by so many? I'm not having a go, maybe I am a bit on the dense side even, I just don't understand and would like to so that I can make educated decisions when buying a new mod.

Well I think that is just your opinion Oil. I do not consider my Itaste SVD, or Itaste VTR as small, they both use 18650 batteries, same as the mechanical mods, and my best vaping device the ITaste 134 is at least as big as the bigger mechanical mods. I myself have one mechanical mod the K100 its an empire clone, but you must realize, that it has no electronic at all, so with a new battery its great, but the lower the battery goes the weaker it becomes. You have to have a feeling for, when to change the battery yourself, since you have no electronic to tell you. There is a bit more to this, but ok one thing you can do on a mechanical mod is to use coils with a resistance between 0,8 to 1,2 ohm, where electronic devices will turn off to protect the device. Or is it 1,2 ? I am always in doubt.

Thanks Deiter. I had forgotten the low and sub ohm capability. This means the coils heats faster and, I think hotter?, and produces more vapor. At least I think that what the low ohm coils do. Also a low ohm coils would be in a rebuildable atomizer so there would be a vapor chamber to concentrate the vapor and flavour. At least I assume that is what it does.

And I agree about the VTR. It is a good MOD. very capable indeed. I'm waiting for my iTaste 134 at the moment, delayed in the Christmas New Year mail backlog I think, But that appears to be a capable unit as well. And anyway, Size and performance are not directly related. As the actress said to the bishop. :rolling laugh:

Also I was under the impression it was the tank/RBA/whatever that was the major contributor to vapor and flavour production. The MOD is basically a power supply as far as I am concerned, just with different capabilities.

    Hi Guys.

If you are going to use clearos all of your vaping life, then there is no need to ever get a mech mod because you will never benefit from it's advantages.

A mech mod is kind of 'old school' because it doesn't use electronics per se.

And as Mash pointed out, you use a mech mod with sub ohm coils and a kick, it effectively changes your mech mod into a variable wattage device.

The advantage of a kick is to have the same wattage throughout the charge of the battery without it fading away like Dieter points out.

But, that is only half of the story. There are different types of kicks.

If you use an Evolv 2 kick you will get the advantages of 5-15 watts, and battery protection that when it reaches a certain level of depletion, it will stutter. That is, when you draw on it, you will get the effect of the the charge turning off and on repeatedly. Then you will know it's time to change the battery.

Other kicks have less wattage range and fewer safety features, but follow the same principles.

Additionally, some people, like myself prefer the mech mod because of the fact that it's mechanical and will either last a lot longer or won't pack up on you. As soon as the chip or electronic switch goes on your VV/VW device, it becomes a paper weight.

And if and when the kick does pack in, you can still use your mech mod normally and choose whether to get another kick or not.

    -------------------

On the topic of the Provari. Don't buy one yet, wait until they come out with a VW version. IMHO it's a waste of money and pressing all those buttons over time will have a negative effect on your vaping sanity. You will, of course try to justify its superior build quality ect. ect.,

Not even going to consider buying one until I have done more research FL. I nearly ordered one a weel or so ago, but decided that I just didn't know enough about any of this and went cheaper to a 134. I only bought one at all because the recessed tank in the VTR, that is a bit irritating me a bit because, when I want to put an RBA on it on the extension, I feel that it will be too out of balance for comfortable use. (And as something like that would require the extension connector to mount and I think look lousy too.)

This is the main reasom I posted this thread. To understand my options.

Many thanks Fruit lover. That is the stuff I need.
