sorry if you've read this twice.

First build trying micro coil method. 1.9 Ohms on 8 wraps. Doesn't look as pretty as i've seen on the net, and i forgot to dry burn to see if it burns from the centre out. But i'm pretty chuffed.

Update: lol massive fail. Tank flooded!! either a wick thing or i put too much juice in it. I filled it to the top of the plastic rim. Using silica as well not cotton.

Getting some vape out of it, but my aspire is better at this point. Strip and start again i think. Getting lots of flavor, in fact too much and it's hot. Not much vapor as in plums.
    Advice appreciated guys.

OK, i had dropped the coil head on the first set up. I just cleaned it and noticed the block was touching the other point because i'd dropped it. I separated them and re wicked it because i also think the wick was too short, hence the flooding. Coil is still reading 1.8 or 1.9. Dry burn and the coil is heating red from the middle out. Now it's making all the right sounds, but it's hot, and there's not much vape. Too much taste, almost sickly. Somethings not right. please give me some help.
    Thanks guys

how do you mean? I've tried the screw almost all the way in and further out. it feels and sounds like im getting a good toke out of it, but the end result is hot sticky sweetness on my teeth and not much vapor.

So you're getting adequate airflow? Also, what model of Kayfun is it? Even better if you have a link. Best would be to post a photo of your coil setup.

If your coil is fine, I would switch to a cotton wick. The flooding could be because your juice channels weren't blocked by the wick, or because your wick was touching the build deck. Flavor being sickly, I'm not really sure. It may be you aren't used to the full flavor of the juice, it could be that the wick is too wet, could be that your coil isn't directly above the air channel. Try cooking off a little juice by letting it heat up for a while. When you fill the tank and close everything up, especially when you top fill, the pressure forces some extra juice into the wick, which normally floods the air channel a little bit. Once you cook it off it should taste better if that is the problem.

Only wicked once with Silica so no help I'm afraid for that side of it. Low vapor could well be from juicew in the airflow. Heavy flooding could be your vaporising chamber not tight. or if top filling getting some juice in there when putting the top cap back on. After putting it back together, loosely cover the air intake with tissue or something, tip upside down and give a short puff of air through the drip tip.

All I can think of without seeing what your build is like. Sorry.

Is this issue happening right after you have filled it?

pommyb it's happening right after and after having been left for hours.
ryanmacl I've tried between 3.5 upwards to 5. to be honest it's getting very hot.

as i said i dropped it on the first set up. when i opened it up to clean and try again i noticed the connector blocks were touching. i prised the apart with a screw driver and pair of pliers. do you think they might Brian too close?

if your not tucking the wick right there will be all kinds of problems. Silica is much more difficult to work with so as others have said, get some cotton.

when your wicking a kayfun, you want the wick to block the channel completely without going into the channels. this is tricky because if you dont block the channels the juice will flood up into your deck and come down and out through your air hole but if you get the cotton actually in the channels, for some reason it will not bring the juice to the coil properly.

i normally get about as big a piece of cotton as i can through the coil, screw on the first part of the chimney, guide the cotton on each side to the back corner and then tuck the remaining cotton in the other corner. i try not to push the cotton down in the middle much because i dont want it to go all the way into the channel. so my method is to surround the channels with cotton as best as possible.

this link is not how i do it, but it shows a few good pics on where you want your cotton
