To be honest, I can't even see the coil because of the gauze topper.
It's the flavour and smell that's indication of something fried... hopefully a good douse of vodka will shift the remaining stench and some good cotton will bring through the flavor again. If not, I have some new coils on order so will switch to my Atlantis 2 for a month (or buy a Nautilus as suggested by @Siam Diesel )

    Thanks again both.

I use that all the time at the moment, I remove the top and bottom layer although I never used to, it's just easier to fluff up.

Can you remove this? If not, it could be the cause of the burnt taste you're getting...

Nope, all the vids I've seen show that the only way to remove it is to destroy it (no way to reattach once it's off)... story is that it stops spit back and without it, you end up with seriously hot spittle. I'll try as a last resort and report back...

Ok, got it...then the vodka soak may actually help.

Some vodka, new cotton and some serious dry burning have given new life and flavour back to my previously burnt out iSub G coil. I need to perfect the routine but reckon it's a pretty sustainable model of recycling used up Sub G coils.

Thanks for all of your advice @Siam Diesel @Neilly and @Rick O-Shea

Glad it worked out for you...hopefully keep you going until some spares arrive at least.

I spoil my Naut coils something rotten...here's a few of them at bath time...

Just got this kit today with some spare coils so it will be a while til I start rewicking them but I have a few questions that I hope you guys can help me with.

When should I do the vodka bath, before or after dry burning the coil?

How long should I soak the coil in vodka? and how should I dry it afterward? air dry or should I rinse it again with water?

and lastly, how many time can I rewick before the coil completely die out?

    Thanks

Give them a bath after a quick pulse

Mine get at least 24hrs free booze...then run under the hot tap and left to air dry for at least another 24hr.

My CLR's are still registering 1.1ohm and are 3 months old (1.0ohm new) so will keep doing the above until resistance goes awol

    Good tip - thanks!

Re drying - I'm too lazy to wait for things to dry - just a quick once over with a tissue then reassemble - maybe I'm playing with fire...

Nah, you'll be fine, I have spares and two tanks so hence the long wait time
