Had to do an almost last moment (almost forgot!) visa stamp run to KL and had just barely enough time to make a fast visit to one of the vape shops there. The IPV Mini V2 was a bit of an impulse buy after picking it up and handling. Well, that and I already was aware of the positive changes they made from the previous version (more power with straight DC-DC, no stupid (to me) mobile power function with an increased chance of accidental firing & there are some other improvements as well). I also recently sold a mod to someone here who was in a bind so was down one in my device rotation/usage scheme (read: my justifications at the time!).

Anyway, the V2 is definitely not the classiest looking device but it's very solidly put together and has a nice machine tool-like heft to it. In fact, in silver color, it looks sort of like an industrial grade tool. It's super-comfortable in the hand with nice, smoothed/rounded areas anywhere the hand is touching. I noticed that there's really not any "edge" on it and the closest thing to edges are more rounded-off than on many box style mods.

There's a bit of a visible seam on the opposite end from the buttons and two visible hex-looking screws holding the shell together on one side. Would have been a little nicer to not see those screws and to have located the seam somewhere near the display and buttons area. Also has an odd but not altogether unsightly (to me) Pioneer 4 You logo next to a profile of a yak, goat or some other horned cattle-looking creature on one side toward the bottom. Immediately below the logo and animal profile it reads in small script "Souvenir 2015". You can hardly make that out. All of this stuff is lightly etched so doesn't stand out a lot on this silver mod which is maybe why it kind of works for me.

Buttons work really well. The fire button is not clicky...more of a soft pressing action. The bottom buttons are clicky in action. Note that when I took off the protective plastic covering the screen the screen plate popped off. At least it easily went back in place and seems secured.

    Floating 510 pin too.

Definitely not as light as something like the iStick 50 W (As many including myself have said before, a great mod for the price!) which, for me, also has a very nice form factor given the internal battery capacity and is a breeze to pocket and carry around. The weightiness feels nice in the hand but not sure it's something many ladies would like. Compared to the iStick 50W, it's about 10 mm taller, 5 mm narrower and 2 mm deeper. It's not mini but it's also not big.

Bottom cap on mine threads on and off smoothly enough.

Menu system pretty straightforward and nice to have a firing lock setting. Will have to read the manual but from what I can tell so far is that it seems to not have a power setting lock. Oh and has power presets but I have to get used to the fact that if it is is sleeping and you press the up button first it will get you into the presets mode.

    No fire button delay here.

So, it's still very early but those are my initial observations. Anyone else own one? What do you think?

Did you buy the Deer Hunter Limited Edition ?!

Thanks for the explicit review. I take it you would recommend the iStick 50W over this one, correct ?

I have a great experience with my iPV2 (so did you as I recall) so I can see why you felt confident to buy this one. I personally like the look of it and I think it is a serious competitor for the iStick. Is it the same price range ?

How accurate is the ohm reader? That was the main flaw with the 30w. Not sure if any sub-ohm tanks would work on it due to it being 0.2 off.

Mine quite often is 0.1 off, never seen 0.2 though. Just did a quick test with an Atlantis with a fairly old coil in it and surprisingly was reading a consistent 0.6ohm across sig100, ipv mini (30w), istick 50w and sig mini (30w)

I see ecighealthy has the IPV 70w locally at 2200 Baht which is very good indeed.

He-he I figured it out today....it's because of the year of the goat in China. I should have known! It's a part of the V2 limited edition styling distinction.

They are pretty different. Like Rick, I sort of view the iStick 50W as almost disposable and at its price point (about 15% cheaper than the IPV Mini V2) less of a concern should it fail or beak apart. That being said, mine's been working well and reliable up to now, has a very good feel in the hand and is lighter in weight....this last point makes it a little more travel friendly, especially in the pocket. The IPV Mini V2 is much more solid and considering that the price it sells at (about $65 to $70 USD), albeit without battery like the iStick, is good I think. It feels like it should be able to last a long time and it has that additional mass to it which, while feeling mighty good in the hand does weigh down a pocket more. If I was at home and had to reach for one or the other, I would choose the IPV mini V2 because of the feel but if I were going out for a walk or doing chores etc. outside the house, I would be more apt to pick up the iStick 50W. How's that for not committing and answering the question completely? :)

Last night I put a 1.1 ohm reading atty from one mod on it and it read the same. Hardly conclusive but at least there was no difference in that quick check. I'll check against more including ohm reader tonight.

That's better. I am just jealous.
Mine's a bit weird. I have an Orchid that measures at 0.78 on the SX and on the iPV 0.7.
My Delta is 0.96 on the SX and 0.8 on the iPV.
0.2 may have been a slight exaggeration.

Some updated readings with 7 different attys with first reading on the IPV Mini V2:

1.1 reads 1.13 on an ohm checker
0.3 reads 0.32 on ohm checker
    1.4 reads 1.47 ohm checker
    1.4 reads 1.43 ohm checker
0.6 reads 0.6 on Sigelei 100W and 0.65 on ohm checker
0.6 reads 0.6 on Sigelei 100W and 0.68 ohm checker
    0.5 reads 0.5 on Sigelei 100W, 0.6 on VS DNA30 and 0.56 ohm checker

Seems accurate enough...maybe reading just slightly low (guessing maybe - 0.02/0.03) if one assumes it rounds up at reading in tenths if 0.05 and higher. Not the best test....the ohm reader may be slightly off as well as the other two mods. It was always consistent with the Sigelei 100W.

Although I'd prefer to buy the iStick I totally understand why someone with a stock of batteries would pick this up instead. Looks just as nice, it's just more of an investment if you don't have the batteries already whereas the iStick comes with the batteries.

Can you charge the batteries in the mod or run it as a pass through?
