1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

IPV 4S anyone?

A little background on myself first... I've been vaping for around 2 months. Well, 2 months recently; I tried previously with some starter pens but didn't like them. Currently still using what I consider a starter pen (eGo-F and eGo-CE4) but since I stopped cigs I feel I'll be vaping for a long time. I'm looking to move up to a mod as I feel it will last longer and I'll be able to control it more; just not getting the hits I'm wanting from the pens.

Thanks to a link in another thread I found a shop in Penang that sells the IPV 4S. I've done some Google searches and have seen some mostly positive reviews, though one YouTube vid I saw users were complaining that the black model kept getting the error to check the atomizer even when it's attached. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these or could potentially recommend another type of vape I could get while in Malaysia.

    Thanks in advance.

The IPV 4s looks to be a pretty good mod though a bit big for my taste. It will certainly have enough power for higher wattages with drippers and even low ohm subtanks. Myself I went with the IPV D2 because of it's nice little size and how comfortable it was in my hand. I have mechanical mods for going to super high wattages. The D2 will mainly be used for my kayfun tanks and dripping around .3-.4 ohms. The IPV mods in general have pretty crappy paint that chips easily. Keep that in mind and get a silicone skin if you do get one.

I have one and use it as a stay at home option. As @TheRedlines mentioned, it also sports plenty of power for standard sub-ohm buillds. It also has great battery life because of 2 x 18650 battery use. I've never had any issues with performance and reliability....only the paint scratching off the top. A good recommendation made to get a silicon skin for it. I have one on mine and like it a lot.

Agree with TheRedlines that the IPVD2 is a nice choice and also to add to the list of candidates found in many places, consider the Sigelei 75W. Warning though that if you use either of those as your primary device through a day and especially if you run it around 50W to 75W, you will probably need to carry a spare battery around with you.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not too familiar with all the fancy settings like ohms and stuff yet. That basically means it takes less time for the coil to heat resulting in needing smaller hits right? That's one big complaint I have with using my eGo pen is Thai I have to pull on it so long to get a decent hit.

Whilst it is certainly a great device, I would advise you a smaller mod. Since it will be your first and only for the time being, you are likely to carry it every where. Size should be your main concern. As for the power, coming from an Ego, you will certainly prefer to vape above 1 ohms and therefore, you won't need a high wattage mod. 40 or 50W should be plenty.

Anyway don't bother with coils and wattage now, you will learn once you have your mod. It will be easier to understand while dialing up and down and feeling the difference by yourself.

I would then look for a single 18650 battery with USB port charging option, or an iStick with integrated battery. The good news is there is plenty of options available locally for the same price as Malaysia. So in 48h, you can be vaping on a new performing kit ! Check out or vendors and post here what you have found and we can help you narrowing down your selection.

And just like @Scratchy , the double battery mods I owe stay home, it's just not convenient to carry around.

Thanks for the advise. I know the 4S is a huge upgrade from what I'm used to but I'm looking for something that is going to last for a long time. My biggest fear when jumping into mods is getting something that won't have the capabilities I desire after 2-3 months of use, much like the pens have done. That's why mods like this interest me; I know I can start off with weaker power then increase as I get more used to it. As for physical size I'm not too concerned with having to carry it as I usually take a bag with me wherever I go. Very European of me I know but hey, it's convenient! As for charging, I saw that the cable that comes with this mod isn't for charging but for updating software. I'm assuming that the batteries must be removed and put into an external charger, is this correct?

You should not worry about that. Even if you buy the perfect mod that could satisfy you for a year up.. You will buy new mods, sooner than you think :)

You will need to buy an extra charger and 2 batteries, yes.

im always recomend to my beginner vape friend to buy istick 50W, simple no need to buy extra battery and charger.
u can use it maybe 4 or 5 month until the battery very weak. but its a good price

and in those 4-5 month u can wake your vapeism soul to leave 100% stingky cigar

    :welcome:

You'll want to read this is you're considering a mod with removable batteries: The Cost of Good Batteries / Battery Safety Links | Thailand Vapers.

Personally, I'd suggest something with integral batteries...the iStick 50 would be a good choice. It won't last forever (none of them will) but it will get you started into the world of mods.

And, don't forget to buy backups for your backups... ;)

Let me give you a good bunch to look at for now. They are all right there on the leading edge and should do well to last you until you start itching for something new. There are others out there of course but these seem to be the most popular right now. In no particular order:
    IPV D2 -
    Koopor Mini -
    Evic VTC Mini -
    Sigelei 75W -
    **Updated**
You might also consider keeping a couple Istick40TC or Istick50 around for those just in case moments.

Wow, thanks for all the recommendations everyone. This is a lot to think about. I feel kinda like a kid that's taking off the training wheels and getting on a Harley. I knew this would be a great community to join. So very helpful!
