Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

Could anyone recommend a good source of information for a 'Newbie' to fully understand the relationship between the Ohm rating of a coil, the Voltage and Wattage of the power source, and so on.
Also the dangers of not knowing all this, please??
Sorry if this is 'Old Hat' but I would like to avoid any serious 'Cock-Ups'.
    Thanks.

    Google Ohms Law Calculator.

I remember you said you had a Samsung battery which I believe has a 5amp continuous discharge and a 10amp pulse.
Assuming you have a 1.0 ohm coil and a fully charged battery (I entered a more realistic 4v) it would have a 4amp drain on your battery and output approximately 16w.

Batteries are cheap, there's no good reason to push your battery too hard when a more suitable alternative is only 350B

There are tons of decent battery safety videos on YouTube, can't think of any off the top of my head though

When I first started vaping, I found this chart useful.

That's a great chart- makes a lot of sense, even to me.
    Cheers.

I agree--this is why I am trying to get as much info as possible--previously, using Stock Cartomiser Tanks, Bottom Dual Coils, etc.. and smaller, or Ego-style batteries, this wasn't such a crucial aspect [obviously making sure that my batteries were protected if necessary, genuine brands, and so on] but now I am going down the coil building route-and purchasing VV/VW devices--this really becomes a much greater safety issue.
Thanks again, to all who have posted info and especially the links and diagrams--I will get stuck in.

Going back to the Chart posted by debatedude- would I be correct in thinking that the figure at the junction of the Volts and the Ohms columns is Watts??
And, concerning the diagram, it only starts at 1.2 Ohms, and I was taught to build my coils around 1 ohm- can you just extrapolate this figure??
Also, I hear about sub-ohm stuff, but this sounds like an area that is, at the moment, beyond me.
I reckon I should be looking at builds from around 0.8 to 1.2 ohms on single coils, and what sort of figures on dual coils??
    Thanks in advance.

Yes that is correct. The Chart is made for those that have a VV device to figure out the safe area to vape in, at a given resistance in the coil. Since it was made for normal use the lowest resistance was 1.2 Ohm, because the VV devices then could not fire when the coil resistance was under 1.2 Ohm. All this has changed now, and if you are thinking of using 0.8 ohm resistance coils, you have to find batteries, that allow for higher Amps to be drawn from the battery. like the LG battery (just an excample) LG18650 2500 MaH (30A). Or something similar.

whenever you double the number of coils, your resistance drops in half.

so if you have one 1 ohm coil, the total load will be 0.5 ohm if you use two coils

if you have four 1 ohm coils your total load will be 0.25 ohms

I completely follow the Maths-it just seems counter intuitive, the more of something, in my pea brain, should give more resistance-I realize that is the inverse, but why, I dunno.

Perhaps this is not appropriate, but it sure is funny!
