If I had to do it again

In switching from smoking to vaping I made some really bad, basic mistakes that I sincerely regret today.


I talked to the wife about how much healthier it is. And cheaper than smoking. 25% of what I spend on cigarettes, I said. (Truth is, I could do it for 10%)
After vaping a couple of days I eulogized about how easy it made quitting smoking, how I don't even THINK about cigarettes anymore.

What a fool I wuz.


If I had to do it all again I'd do things very differently.

Double my smoking for a week or so. Buy the cheapest, nastiest stinkiest cigs I could find.
Smoke all over the house, especially in the bedroom. At night would be good.
Talk about the dangers of secondhand smoke. Cough a lot.
Say you want to switch to vaping but can't because it costs AT LEAST double what you're spending on cigs. Probably more.
Don't mention probably living longer if you switch, that may be seen as a negative. Mention living longer therefore probably earning more.
Complain and threaten to go back to smoking often and loudly. Swear a lot about the equipment and juice you have currently and how its all trial and error to get it right. Go buy a pack of cigs. Smoke a few in the bedroom.

If she complains about shoes and handbags be nice. Beat your breast about how much you're spending on this vaping crap. Go buy a packet of cigs. Smoke in the bedroom.
