I'm not understanding something here. A mech is nothing more that a tube for a battery that allows the battery to transfer power to a clearo.carto/rda, etc. And a non-clone is ****ing expensive, many well over $100. I have a real, 4-cell Mag Light. It is machined out of a solid piece of aircraft-grade aluminum. It's job is to facilitate the transfer of power from a battery to a lightbulb. And it cost me $50. So why are mechs so expensive? It's not rocket science! I am really thinking of giving up on mechs.

I think it's just the hype really for some, but also a lot of time and effort goes into the more expensive mech mods, a lot are hand turned, have your very own serial number on it, maybe they go through many different designs before they actually get one out on the market. All of this costs money to do, so yes maybe the actual mod which finally comes out of it all doesn't seem right or the price, but taking the other things into consideration maybe. They also don't what you call 'mass' produce these, they make them, put them out on the market, then make another load a few months later, and same again.

Some of them also only make say 100 of a certain mech mod and that's it, so it's kind of special.
Then the Chinese makers, get one, clone it, rip it off, copy it 1:1 and then mass produce it at a very low cost.

For me, it doesn't bother me either way, but I do understand why they are priced at the price they are price at....

Supply and demand in a capitalist consumerist society.
People will happily pay more than $200 for something that cost $10 to make.

It's not like they are spending millions on R&D after all.

Like you say, it's just a stainless steel tube

From what I have read, a kick can be used for an 18500 or 18350, but not an 18650. What I am curious about is if the Magneto can use flat-top batteries.

Very similar to that one. Mine will be all stainless. I got to play with one over the weekend and really liked it. It was set up with no kick and an RDA. Hell, I even enjoyed zero nic juice on it. The game plan is to use the Magneto with an RDA and cut down the nic level.

I paid 1300 for mine too.
