    got my spare screw from ryan today and have created my first kayfun coil. the screw from ryan works better than the one that came with my unit

    got it all screwed in ok--squeezed together with trweezers and it just looked too small--not enough wraps

    tested out at 3.26ohms--why so much??

    also i don't think I got enough cotton through---==i just put several drops on the coil/wick adn afew extra around the sides--didn't bother to fill the tank as i suspected it would not work very well--and it didnt
    it did work--got a few decent puffs and it soon got a burning taste--opened it and none of the cotton had darkened but half the coil was exposed to air and was not touching any cotton

    overall happy at least it worked and i can improve on it

    apparently we will get the hang of it. but i feel your pain :frustrated:. if it wasnt for ryan's help i would still be working on my first coil. :rolling laugh:

    but here are a few things i noticed him do to make a better wrap

    use an ohms calculator from taste your juice and find out how long the kanthal needs to be, then cut to that size and just wrap it around a drill bit or screw driver until you have used the whole piece. this is much easier than counting wraps

    torch the coil tight together, this makes putting the cotton through sooo much easier. when the cotton is where you want it, pull it back and forth through the coil just a bit going each way. this helps with further adjustments and probably with the wicking of the coils since the cotton will not be all over the place hanging over the coil.

    make sure you screw down so that the coil is being tightened as you screw. (coil on left side of screw so as you tighten the screw pulls the wrap around to the right)

    enjoy, :grin::grin:

    my second was better than the first--still I cut the cotton too short and the coil weighed in at over 3 ohms.

    better taste this time--but also cotton too tight in coil

    i really like the airflow of the kayfun--great draw and the potential for some great vaping

    Can you take some photos of your coils and wick next time you do them? Maybe I can give you some tips.
