Dr Farsalinos study: 69% of eliquids tested contain diacetyl

So some people will already know the background & some will not. It's Friday and my brain hurts so I'm not gonna give much detail. There is a related discussion between VM, Ryan and me in this thread Of particular usefulness is the link Ryan gives which will give you a quick overview,

Diacetyl causes lung scarring. This is not new news. It was a vaping scare in 2010 and since then most vendors & flavor manufacturers have said their juice is diacetyl free.

Dr Farsalinos (the most high-profile pro-vaping researcher) has been doing a study of 159 different eliquids from different manufacturers from v small vendors up to the biggest companies. He presented his preliminary findings on Dimitri's radio show. 69% of liquids contained diacetyl Including many who advertise themselves as diacetyl free. He says that many flavor companies have been giving assurances of "no diacetyl" when this is not the case.

And my thoughts can be summed up with this from the other thread:
"I have some hope that FA and Capella may be telling the truth and they have found a harm-free molecule. Until they release details or I see GCMS (Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry) results I won't trust them. At the end of the day they are corporations and I trust them as much as big pharma, big tobacco etc."
