So I have just downloaded the Escribe software for the DNA200 chip, still waiting for mine to arrive and also the Ti and SS wire. Now I know that you need to change the type of TC wire you are using via Escribe but what I didn't realise is that it only comes with the CTR for Nickel. Again I know you can upload CTR's to get better TC theoretically but not having anything at all is a bit of a pain in the...(please add appropriate body part)

I have only JUST started playing with Escribe and tbh I feel that this is a major flaw that should be corrected with at least a workable CTR that can be replaced with one more accurate to your wire at a later date. Just glad I downloaded now so I can get all the info I need in to Escribe before my mod arrives.

Yeah, I feel they should have included a Ti and SS profile in addition to the Ni200. Once you have loaded these additional profiles to escribe, set all your other settings and synced, unless you wanted to add yet another variation of wire, there's little if any need to ever go into escribe again.

Yeah looks like that to me. Only problem is that when I run Steam engine in windows on my my mac it doesn't seem to show ANY wires types at all so I have to download on the mac part and then I'm going to have to tfr it to Escribe manually I think. Got to play with that yet as too busy to settle down for a marathon if it doeasn't work out easily. lol

I find it works great with the tcr from Steam engine. I am running Ti - Nife - SS on my DNA200 without any problems.
If you are not allready on the DNA200 forum I will suggest you go there, as there are many great tips and post about the use of different wires in TC

I have heard that the SS 316 CSV file runs a little off on the DNA 200, but no experience as yet.

Fully intend getting on the DNA 200 forum as I can hopefully get the best advice from there. Waiting for my mod to turn up first though so I can familiarise myself with the DNA menu and Escribe a little first before I jump in.

Yes You are rigt, but there is a guy on the forum who have made some special TVR for the SS which function very well.
I am now only using the Nife52 as it gives the best vape and the absolutely best steady readings in TC mode and it is much like Kanthal to work with and much better flavor than the other wires we can use for TC. The TCR for the nife52 from steam engine is perfect and works witouth any alterations.

the guys at Evolv will soon release a new firmware to the DNA200, so that will be great

Gonna have to look in to that then. Getting supplies in Thailand is probably not possible so will have to source it from outside. Hmmmmm…Back to importing again.

The best place to get Nife is at a German shop
    NiFe48 - Zivipf Onlineshop
it is made by Kanthal and it is nife52 even if they call it nife48
I just got a load from there and the shipping and the prices are great.

OK then. DNA200 came in today and going through and charging it up. Played with escribe and have noticed that when it is plugged in to the computer the lightning thingy comes up in the battery barf but NOT the screen charging settings. Just waiting to see if it is actually charging. Any ideas?

I think it is normal that you do not see it when it is "asleep"/dimmed. A quick press of the fire button will show lightning bolt. I setmy sleep screen (or was it charging screen?) to show the input charge level in amps so I can quickly see what rate it is charging at and know when it is finished without touching the mod. I think I also increased the sleep display brightness too so its visible when asleep and charging.

So in looking it over, I didnt change the default battery charge amp displaying but rather maybe only the charging and/or idle brightness

Well colour me impressed with the DNA 200 board. Just got it set up using Escribe, not a bad piece of software but a few extra's I would like to see, with SS 316L, CTR from Steam Engine used, and I have to say. WOW! A very nice vape indeed set on 5ooF 26g .24r in a Bellus. Best nic hit i've had since dripping and flavour, while different from Kanthal it still comes to the party nicely. Only thing I have noticed so far is that initially I kept getting temp protection errors that would only clear if I disconnected and reconnected the atty. Now I have changed my vaping style slightly and no further problems. Very nice. As much as I wasn't surre about the Escribe software I does make the on board menu simpler to use from other DNA I have used in the past I think, but the option to use different TC coils without having to go in to the software would be rather nice. All in all a VERY nice chip providing a really nice vape on SS.

Quite sure I am just repeating what others have already said but what the hell. lol

Yep that's what I did. Just got back in so going toplay a bit and see if I can sort it out.

Note that I also changed the default screen to show battery percentage remaining. I like that better than guesstimating
