1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.
Are you looking to get started or an old hand at vaping? Everyone is welcome here so sign up today and talk vaping with us!

Are locally made and sold e-juices safe?

I use two identical RTAs Campione made by Advken. I use them alternately during the day at a rate ‘50%-50%’ of the time just because I get bored of just one taste. In one of them I have e-juice from a local Thai maker and dealer and in the other one I have Thai e-juice bought on line. I noticed about a month ago that one of the RDAs was rather smeared and got me a bit worried about what I’m inhaling. So I decided to pay more attention to it and give it one more go. Here are the pictures of both RDAs, they show condition with internet sale Thai e-juice after two weeks of use (quite clean) and the other one with local e-juice after one week of use (not so quite clean).

Now, my intention, by posting this, is not to create panic among the members of this forum. Moreover, since I am rather new member of it, I would appreciate every opinion, experience or advice about safe use of e-liquids. Thanks in advance.

    This is perfectly normal..

It looks ,the juice contains sucralose, or a sweetener..

I usually change my cotton weekly, you should notice a change in flavour, then it is an indicator
    to change the cotton..

    I would remove the cotton..

Pulse the coil, so the black gunk disappears

Re wick, your coil, rejuice the wicks..

Thanks, weaver93. Must say you calmed me down a bit. I am new to vaping so I have a lot to catch up. I do usually re-wick after one week and pulse and clean the coils thoroughly. But still, it doesn't look nice in the pictures hahaaha.

The one in question is sweet, not too sweet, it's green and it's MelonFest flavour. The one that appears rather clean and nor sweet is Marlboro made by Checkmate. Now I Google about Sucralose that you mentioned and I think I have some interesting reading ahead. ;)

The melon juice is probably mixed with a higher percentage of sweetener/sucralose, also ' juice colouring'

Usually in a juice its 1% of the recipe., but this could be 1.5/2%, or maybe they used an additive called 'Super strength sweetener.

There is definetly something in it that makes it sweet and coloured. It would be good if there would be more info on all this products. As I was Googling about 'sucralose' I saw this quote that I liked. "Cigarettes have 5000 different kinds of bad, so it depends on you whether your goal is harm reduction or harm elimination." :) Thanks Weaver ;)

Electricity and water don't mix. Certainly not safely. I always dry burn my coils then remove the atty from the mod before washing it. Adding water while it is on the mod is risky. You could destroy your mod. Just saying careful is better.

seems like a butt load of sweetener, i have experienced this with UK, USA and Russian Juices(but not that bad) and im not to proud to say that it did creep me out a little. I tend to not use such sweet juices now for this very reason. I cannot imagine too much sweetener being good for the lungs, and dont fancy trying to breathe through treacle :) each to their own tho, and its still better than the stinkies so keep on vaping thats the main thing.

Never had much problems with GLV juice and can go weeks without changing cotton, but I got some locally made UK juice and it was only a matter of days before it started to look like your pictures..

If this is a brewed locally juice by Thais, I would be careful to only purchase from those you trust who make it with the correct ingredients. I belong to a couple Thai DIY groups and some of the stuff they make their juice out of is not fit for vaping at all. It could just be surcralose, it could also be any number of off the shelf supermarket coffee sweeteners. I've also seen saccharin used as well. In my opinion I would steer far clear of any locally made stuff unless you really know what is in it.

I think I will avoid local juices in the future and you are absolutely right, I think many of this ignorant brewers don't give a damn what is in it, as long as it sells and doesn't kill you instantly. Being responsible is not one of the virtues Thais could brag about. ;)

Hmmmm..... Isn't the poster Serenity living here in Thailand? His Serenity line of juices are superb. Just got my first order a few days ago and I am really blown away. The most high quality juice I have come across here. Dont stereotype people, and also understand that a lot of westerners live here as well. Hence this forum. They could be the ones brewing up these nice juices...:very good:

I've posted these before but I'll post them again just so you can get an idea of what some of these local Thai brewers are putting in their juices. I've saved them only because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Here are some of the different sweeteners I've seen them post for use in mixing.

Yes, it is not nice to stereotype or generalize people but I stay here long enough to be acquainted with poorman's values when it comes to making money in this great country. I was referring to local, really local small juice makers, not those who got some reputation and sell on internet. Wish you many healthy clouds. ;)

Thanks, Jarokee. OMG. Well, I think I should believe you on this one. I might dig in to my source and try to come up with an explanation what's in those 120Baht/30ml juices. ;)
