No full details and the FT Threads go way off topic, but i read this was with:
And so it starts...: FastTech Forums

I won't be charging mine via USB

There could have been many reasons why this happened and not all to do with a Cloupor problem, however it's worth getting out there for everyone

Ok, let's say it was due to him charging from his laptop/computer.
If so and you wanted to charge this via a wall adapter to the mains socket, what kind of wall adapter should be safe for plugging the USB into?

Well a usb port on a laptop/desktop pc is within a 5% on the 5 volts so good luck finding a usb adapter wich is lower than 5%, as to why thay think a usb port is unstable i cant say, ill just paste some text from the usb port spec.:

The USB 1.x and 2.0 specifications provide a 5 V supply on a single wire to power connected USB devices. The specification provides for no more than 5.25 V and no less than 4.75 V (5 V ± 5%) between the positive and negative bus power lines (VBUS voltage). For USB 3.0, the voltage supplied by low-powered hub ports is 4.45–5.25 V.

So you're saying it shouldn't do that to the mod via usb on a laptop?

Thay only state that it is unstable so i cant say as i dont know what other problems come into play with the usb port, but i charge my phones, tablets and power bank with my pc's usb port, never had a problem, if its true that the mini cant be charged via a usb port its bad design from cloupor...

I staying away from Cloupor for good. Wayt too many issues on almost all of their products. Wether it is safety of performance, they are just not reliable.

-V- please be careful mate, you have a lot of other great mods, don't try your luck with this one :unbelievable:

For me I never charge via USB if i can take out the battery.
It to me was as seen a problem with charging the battery installed via usb
I've been using it all afternoon and it is a nice mod.
Maybe I could look into dna 40 chiping it at one stage though.....lol...

I will charge with USB without worry from whatever port has a lead plugged into it but as I have a removable battery, several fully charged and ready to go at all times it's unlikely I'll ever use the USB.

This is the great thing with this mod, magnetic door, easy to change 18650 which is the most used batery out there, there is really no need to use the usb one bit..

Cloupor don't help themselves with their comments though. "Don't use the usb from a computer to charge the device". Idiots lol

They'd have been a lot better off just leaving out the USB charger...
Would it have damaged sales? Probably not, there might have been a small % complaining, but more damage to sales can be done with pictures like in the OP going around the WWW

But again, for me, this thing really is a winner, just don't use the god-dam usb port...lol..
Nearly everyone has 18650 batteries with a charger, so use it....
