Had a Stingray X for a bit, when I bought it the inside of the tubes and thread were real manky, even after cleaning with soap and hot water.
After using it for a while the copper cut outs started looking pretty grotty. I don't mind a patina, an even patina, but in the Stingray cut outs I thought it was looking pretty crap so I chucked the tubes into a small bowl of white vinegar and went out. It was 100% vinegar in the bowl but I'm sure I could have diluted it.
When I got home 2 hours later I came back to this:

I like the switch on the Stingray X. It was a little crunchy at first so I put a tiny bit of Vaseline around the post with a cotton bud. The throw on it is tiny, I much prefer it to the Nemesis switch that misfires more often that not at the same distance.

    Quick update.
I Washed all the parts off and put them back together then stood it upside down on a shelf planning to leave it untouched for a couple of weeks to see how it pantinas. Already, after less than 24 hours, it has turned a lovely golden brown colour.
I'll upload a picture later when light is better.

That's a great idea! I'll have to try it on some gunked up threads on a couple of my tanks.

    :very good:
