...about to buy some stainless steel wire, I know a regular Fused Clapton is the simplest way to go but so may fancy wires in the world. What do you recommend? I have a couple velocity(ish) tanks but I'm also doing builds for my good ol Kanger Subtank mini, so I'd like it if it can fit on that tiny deck.

Hmmm, Kanthal A1 is all I ever use for coils...good flavor...and it's frugal on juice, too. YMMV ;)

You mean just straight a1 coils, no twist no gimmic? I've been steadily moving along my wire preferences. I don't use temp control. I really just like the SSl for the way it builds and the fast ramp up. But I have been burning through a lot more juice....mostly on .4 ohm ssl 24 guage wire. You think switching back to Kanthol will save juice? What about a fancy kanthol?

Yep, good old micro coils @ 1 ohm or so...can't be arsed to fool around with the fancy coils. I'll leave that to @a_spirit ...he's a pro! :D

Someday, I may get around to trying SS wire...but I'll have to buy some first. Got a ton of Kanthal that I bought 3 years ago... ;)

    Seconded.

I played a bit with some nichrome. My oldest boy and I did some insane (and some sane) builds. We actually made a build using 20 gauge nichrome that came in at 0.11 ohms. I think we went through about 20 ml of juice between the two of us in one day.

Nowadays, even with my velocity decks I use plain coils and kanthal. I still burn through juice, but not 20 ml in one day.

And that's why I don't bother...20ml of juice would last me 4 days!

That's about where I'm at if I stick my single coil Kanger Subtank . But my recoil and Baby Beast just eat juice.

In all my drippers I run 24 gauge kanthal dual coils and I shoot for 0.25 ohms. I usually burn through 6 ml/day.

3mm / 24ga Kanthal, usually 0.3r. Haven't really been all that impressed by any fancy coils I've tried. Plan to try this out sometime in the future because I can't be arsed to make my own.

You prefer this to Kanthal A1, I see. What's the difference, if you don't mind my asking? :)

    Yup.
    Same here.
    NI80 is really really good.
But sometime, with certain juice, I can notice a bit of metallic taste.
    Any idea why?
