1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

Going on a trip to Manila next week, and just wondering what the situation is concerning carrying gear in hand luggage at airports, Suvarnabumhi and Manila?
I will keep my Juices and extra Batteries and such in checked luggage, but how about taking one mod with a filled Nautilus Mini in hand luggage? Will that cause problems? Sure the security agents have seen them all, how do they react?

I've had no problem with airport security at Suvarnabumhi getting on the plane with a full mod.

I put the mod in a plastic zip-lock bag in case it leaks from the cabin air pressure.
(Any liquids must be in a zip-lock bag).

DO NOT put your batteries in your checked luggage (it's against safety regulations). Bring them in your carry-on in a proper battery case or put electrical tape on the ends.

Can't comment on Ninoy Aquino airport but with the popularity of vaping in the P.I. I don't think it would be a problem.

    Enjoy your trip!:sunny:

    Here's some guidelines from TSA:
    See here:
TSA Guidelines For Flying With E-cigarettes & E-liquid

Most countries will follow similar rules (unless it's a country that's banned e-cigs).

    Also see:
Checked/Carry-on Baggage Prohibited Items | United Airlines
"Spare lithium batteries banned in checked luggage
The United States Department of Transportation has implemented the following guidance on packing lithium batteries in checked and carry-on baggage. Customers are advised not to pack loose lithium batteries in checked baggage for any United Airlines flight that operates in, from or within the United States. Larger lithium batteries (more than 100 watt hours, but not exceeding 300 watt hours) are limited to two (2) in carry-on baggage.

Haven't traveled in awhile but I took a iTaste VV V3.0 plus an Aspire ET-S in my carry-on the last time I did and had no issues with security. You definitely will want to put the tank in a plastic bag (I turn mine upside down during takeoff & landing) in case you get some leakage from the pressure changes.

I'm planning a trip back to America in April. I'd like to take a mech, a couple of batteries (18650), a dripper, and a bottle of juice. I can just see the look on there (TSA) faces when they see some multi-coiled piece of metal going through the x-ray.

When I flew with gear, TSA didn't really have a problem with it. They knew what it was and it was OK with them. The only issue is if the juice is in a single container more than the allowed amount. They made me throw out toothpaste that was too much. But smaller bottles of juice were allowed as well as batteries and mods.

The charger would be cheaper in USA for sure...but the problem on both ends for you would be the different prong design for Thailand vs USA. Are you going through LAX?

Yes, LAX. I have a Nightcore charger. The plug will work in California. I am worried about the TSA.

I travel with the XTAR SP-1 (SP-1). Great little charger with a small form factor. Adapters are easy to get at Home Pro.

I also have a nitecore charger(s) (love those things). TSA will not have a problem with the charger. I also took that on the plane. I was going to say that I have extra chargers (the cheap kind) that you could pick up for your stay in America if you needed, but it looks like you have it handled.

Funny you should mention the xtar, I just got one a few weeks ago. Mine's the mc1 though. Good little charger. I got it just to use the USB so I could charge a battery in car.

I like XTAR gear...good quality. I use a VP2 at the house...they've come out with some new stuff, too, since I last looked. I like to check out the charger reviews on the flashlight forums...those guys are seriously anal about their chargers.
