Vaping and the E-cigarette

Interesting point of view from a pulmonologist. He's obviously not pro harm reduction or an addiction specialist. The video is not comparing vaping to conventional cigarette smoking, nor does it state that vaping is as bad or worse than smoking. His opinion is based on this research report:
"Conclusions
These results suggest that e-cigarettes are associated with inhibiting rather than assisting in smoking cessation. On the population level, the net effect of the entry of e-cigarettes into the European Union (and Great Britain) is associated with depressed smoking cessation of conventional cigarettes."

Another point he brings up is that many non-smokers have started vaping. I don't think anyone agrees that a non-smoker should take up vaping.

The Professor in this video states smoking prevalence figures in the UK have gone down in the last 3 years, and that out of the 3 million vapers in the UK 1.5 million vapers were never smokers.

 

Its good to have two thoughts in your head, but you can not kill one bad with another bad to make it right.

So you would recommend taking up vaping to a non-smoker?

We know it's much safer than conventional smoking in the context of burning materiel inhaled into the lungs, but we won't know if there are any unknown negative long term effects of vaping until we've seen people who have been vaping on a daily basis for 20+ years.

As an ex-smoker, thats a risk I'm willing to take, but not one I'd recommend to a non-smoker. I guess I would if the person was determined to either smoke or vape, but I don't see that as a realistic scenario.

I don't know that in reality a person that is presented with what they believe is a safe vape would necessarily go for tobacco if the vape was not available. The negative effects of tobacco smoke are alread known.

 

Good Luck if he think he can protect the whole world. Some times we just dream beyond reality. But its god he make this warning, but I never experiences to get my coil in my trout and swallow it.

BTW we had the discussion many years ago about Nicotine. Its Nicotine in all the vegetables you eat, Egg plants, potato, green tomato etc etc
