1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

I must have been hitting my RDAs too much at the moment. My Kayfun just can't give me the kick that I want (even with the airflow regulator fully removed).

I seem to recall seeing somewhere (maybe on this forum) that it may not be wise to coil your Kayfun at too low of a resistance (...or maybe I dreamt it). I currently have the KF at about 1.5 ohms, but was thinking of taking it down to about 0.8 ohms (that should be plenty)

Does anybody see any issues with this??? Would there be any problems with the extra heat?

I personally have a 0.7 ohms setup on my Kayfun clone, if I chain vape it does become quite hot but no issues so far, maybe change the cotton mesh more often....

Iam guessing that u use a mech mod, the problems can come if the insulater melts, other than that, vape on. :)

I'm using it on top of a Nemesis clone.

It was probably me that you read the post about. This is a pic of one of my Kayfuns that the insulator had burned and the positive terminal got really black.

I can't speak to other people's experience but I can tell you mine. The real KF and the high quality clones use delrin instead of regular plastic. I ordered a few from Fasttech when they first became available on Fasttech (the clones have not actually been offered that long on FT, and only recently has the supply equaled the demand). The ones I got from FT (which appear to have been early batches) appeared to use plastic instead of delrin. They melted. I went to my local brick and morter in Anaheim (they've seen alot of this), and they were telling me that they've seen problems with melted insulators on the FT, and most likely this is because they were using cheaper plastic instead of delrin. On the HCigar and EHpro KF I have they used delrin. Never had a problem with these ones. On all of the fasttech ones I got (3 of them) I've had problems with the insulators melting and the terminal getting burned.

I spoke to my local Brick & Morter (in Anaheim, and it is one of the major shops around my area so they have seen plenty of this) and it is their opinion that the FT ones cheaped out and cut corners using plastic, and that the FT ones they have seen have used plastic instead of delrin. They had a stockpile of delrin insulators specifically because of this.

So yes, there is a problem with sub-ohming on these KF's. There is a problem even using 1 ohm and above because plastic melts easily. (I've melted FT insulators without even subohming.)

I should point out that I don't know if this is still the case with FT clones. At the beginning of the year FT only offered a few KF's, now they have plenty of clones to choose. From what I gather from other people, the cheap FT are now using delrin (but I don't know for sure) so they should be OK for mild sub ohming (0.80-0.7 is not pushing the limit too far). Going below a 0.50 or down to a 0.10 or 0.20 you will have a problem. These temperatures risk melting even delrin.

In all reality, the Kayfun is not really designed to be a subohming atomizer precisely because it does rely on insulators (those plastic looking things beneath the positive block), while other atomizers do not. Dripping atomizers are usually what most people sub ohm on. If you notice on your dripping atomizers, they don't use plastic or derlin insulators any where near where the coils are. Same with genesis style atomizers--no plastic insulators near the coils. This is the problem with the Kayfun and why it is not a great device to subohm down to.

I've done it, but I do find I like the regulated W on the Hana clone with the KayFun, I run a 1.2 ohm coil at 17W and it's great.

Hmmmm. I am not sure if my KF has delrin or plastic insulators. I might take it down to around the 1.2 mark and see how it goes. What I am after is a little bit more of a kick. I think it is around the 1.5 or 1.6 mark at the moment (that is what my iTaste V3 is saying....I should get my ohms metre tomorrow).

I am not sure who the manufacturer of my KF clone is. It is the black edition KF lite from Micky. I seem to recall it is the HCigar (but might be wrong).

Thanks for the answers. Also sorry for the late reply. I have been in the internet shadowlands for a couple of days.

    UPDATE:

Just went and had a look at Micky's site. My black edition KF lite clone is a Tobeco. Anybody know if this clone uses delrin, or plastic???

Yeah I have been looking at the Aquas. The Squape, too.

Maybe not though. I guess I like the Tanks (they are convenient), but I just use them when it is not convenient to drip. I guess I just finding it hard to get a blast out of a tank (hence the reason for this post).

The exception to the rule is the genesis style tank I have (Z-atty I got from Ecig). This has a really nice punch, great flavour. However, it is such a temperamental thing (shorts out all the time, mucking around with SS mesh etc) that I haven't used it for a month or so.
