I'm currently using 316 SS and am fairly happy with it. I am about to order a lifetime supply of 304 Stainless as it seems to be the best for TC due to it's make up and it can be had very inexpensively due to it's widespread use in aviation as lock wire. 304SS is what the VTC Mini is said to be calibrated for.

Ni200 has extremely low resistance so is only good for TC. Due to it being very soft it is very hard to work with while coiling and wicking. There are many who also find they have allergic reactions to it. Others find they don't like the taste they say it imparts. Still others are concerned about the safety of the metal itself. I myself have never used Nickel.

Ti wire is also only for TC as it also has very low resistance though not nearly as low as Nickel. IT also cannot be heated to over 600 degrees as it starts to form Titanium Dioxide which is a known carcinogen. Under normal TC vaping it should never reach temps close to this. Of course you shouldn't dry burn these recklessly like you might with Kanthal due to the same worries. Many say it tastes much cleaner than Nickel though others don't taste a difference.

Stainless Steel has been used in vaping for quite a while though not very widespread. It is said to have a very clean taste. Some say better than kanthal though I cannot tell a difference as of yet. It has about half the resistance of Kanthal and can be used in vw/vv and mech devices as well. Dry burning the coils to clean has not been a problem though it is said to be best kept to a lower orange color rather than being totally reckless. Plenty enough to burn the crud off. Stainless Steel alloys usually have between 10-15% Nickel in their make up allowing for TC to work. It's resistance changes with heat are much tighter so the mods need to be faster and more precise to work right with it. Stainless Steel TC settings are starting to show up on more and more mods though it is still cutting edge at the moment.

Oh and I've been using the same gauges I use with Kanthal. 28ga, 26ga. and 24ga. It's resistance is close to half of Kanthal's.

So theoretically, any pre-built stock coil that is made out of stainless steel like lets say Uwell Crown coil etc. can be use on both wattage mode and temp mode?

    Yes :)
On a mechanical mod is the only place where it may get tricky as many newer coilheads are not built to work well @ 3.3-4.2 V. They may be very very hot.

I'm also thinking of getting into building stainless steel coils. After trying the uwell crown coils, i think im a convert.
Thinking of picking up UD ss316L 26g or 24g .
Do you guys make spaced or contact coils?
Is it ok to dry fire the coils to fix the hot spots?
