Sparks from Charger

So I put a almost fresh battery (charged once before) in my charger I got from Big. it was a sony batter and I charged other batteries tons of times in there.

About 5 min so did I hear a small bang and saw smoke rising from the bottom of the charger and it was still charging. The battery was placed the right way in there.

So what todo, shall I assume that something is wrong with either battery or charger and go get a new one?

 

As you may or may not know, all electrical appliances work with smoke. Once the smoke escapes, then that's it. It won't work no more. This is usually caused by a short and there is no way to make it longer. Also, you cannot get the smoke back in there.

Your charger is dead. Don't try to fix it. Get a new one. And check your batteries carefully before attempting another charge.

 

I agree. Don't risk your safety or those around you for a few Baht, get a new one. Btw what brand is it?

Also that ruined my day all I wanted was to get smoke in there..

Something definitely blow as the plastic was melted in the bottom of the charger.

Bought this on today and charging away like crazy now.
