OK found it. Infomation was actually in teh review in the OP from Vapnfagan.

Battery connection has been corrected. V1 had a male connection on the battery, which is a safety issue for dead shorting the battery if you change it at some point. V2 has the male connection on the mod itself.

Paint. V1 has anodised colour finish which was very durable. V2 has a sort of painted high gloss finish which is not as durable. HOWEVER, I have also since seen a matt finish, which I think is the one in your picture, not sure, that may be back to an anodised finish. Couldn't get any info on that.

V1 was only available in black and red and V2 is only available in black and white.
