I was going to Phuket in my car and in a regular check by army and police they found my mod. They told me its illegal to have vape equipment. They told me that i am being arrested for the possession of illegal stuff, at this point my girlfriend (thai) started crying and they started to process they took my passport and told me i will be deported back to my country. Cutting short after almost 45 minutes of talking to the head of army there he told me this time he will let me go but my mod and juice were confiscated. so just be careful out there guys.

Sorry to hear this...so it's filtered down south as well. Did you have to pay a "fine", too?

    Wow, what a story!

I am very happy you got away with that and only lost your mod!

Being deported is even worse than a fine because it can take a long time before you can get back into the country.

And this is only done for you to keep on smoking stinkies and pay taxes!
    Ridiculous!

    Sorry to hear about this.
Were you and your car searched or was your mod in plain sight?

If the mod had been hidden, do you think they would have found it (i.e., how thorough was the search of the car)?

I think it is a good idea to keep your mod home during this Songkran period. Too many police checks at this moment!

Very sorry to hear about your lost of the mod @rojan I hope it was not too expensive. This is really sirious business being threatened with deportation. In one way I'm also sorry this is not in the tread :**UPDATED** - Public Vaping May No Longer Be Legal (Fined for Possessing Vape Gear) | Thailand Vapers since it would be fine to collect all the expiriences together in that thread, so it's easy when people ask to link to the tread, just an idea. Thank you for posting this, and let us know, that it's still a good idea to keep the vaping equipment at home.

@Axel - spread it out through your checked luggage...if CDG offers plastic-wrapping, you might want to consider doing that, too.

I don't think the airport security-check folks are treating vaping gear with the same ferocity @Dieter. Leaving the country last week through Swampy I discovered, after security upstairs pulled my computer bag at the x-ray machine, that I had forgotten I had a back-up iStick TC 40 battery unit in the outer pocket. She asked me what it was. I said a battery pack. She then asked what its purpose was (she knew …). So I openly said that it was for vaping. She looked at it again, then returned it along with a hand-wave to indicate I should move on.

Maybe I was just lucky, but there was not even an attempt to confiscate it. But I was leaving and not arriving !
