It's best not to use it as it is, could get a short from it
As LG said you can buy wraps, I did it a few times back in Thailand
But as batteries aren't that expensive you could always get another one...

So how do you shrink it? A blow-dryer? Isn't there a risk to the battery? Asking because I should re wrap some of my batteries as well.

    I used a blow dryer...worked like a charm.

Don't think so...heat is applied for a very short time so the temp increase is minimal.

Thanks for that. I am paranoid about overheating batteries. Heck, I use a heat sink on the Tesla LOL

The wrap shrinks quite fast indeed, it does not need a lot of heat. You'll be safe ! (or ask someone else to do it just in case ^^)

I re-wrap all the time. A blow dryer is sufficient. A heat gun will also work much quicker just keep it a long way from the battery. I can't tell much of a difference in heat transfer to the battery from the blow dryer at close distance to the heat gun at a far distance.

    Thanks guys.

After reading this I right away put a 50 pack of battery wrap shrinks in my cart for 18350 and 18650 batteries.

Better to have them at hand then when you suddenly need one.

Good choice. As cheap as they are money wise, they are priceless when you need them.

Glad i posted this had no idea we could purchase new bat covers? Ordering some tonight for sure. Back in the day when my bats skin got all torn up id just toss them in the trash. This saves money.

Looking from the pic, this is the negative end of the battery so should be no problems using it. The outer case of the battery is negative all the way to the top. Problems at the top can be dangerouse because theres only a few mm between positive and negatives. Still good practise to rewrap. Dont use normal heatshrink as its thicker but softer.
