Book recommendation that's available in Thailand? As I have been in Thailand for almost 3 years total.
And im not in a relationship with a Thai...

I have read Private Dancer (Stephen Leather)

But a book about Thailand and the culture would be a good one..
Or any other books suggestions are appreciated..

I want to relax for e few days and read some books and turn of my laptop..

The books recommendations has to be available to buy in Thailand in one of the book shops in Central Plaza...

Hmm, recommending a book is a bit like recommending an e-juice, both subjective. All these are a few years old, since I bought them before I could move here.

Culture. Bought these when they were published in paperback by Asia Books in 2008. "Thai Culture and Society", and "Successful Living in Thailand". Both by a chap called Roger Welty. Avoid these. Actually first published in 1996, the first may give good tips if you aspire to be part of BKK HiSo, the second, 20 years out of date.

Novels. "Farang", by David Thompson. I re read this some months ago and the first part still made me laugh out loud. Like my first time in LoS, only more so. A touching storyline as well.
"Bangkok 8/Tattoo/Haunts", by John Burdett. A trilogy of crime novels. I loved these, even though I'm no big fan of the genre. Good tales, and show how corruption is ingrained, accepted and sometimes even admired here. (This should have gone under culture).
"Thai Girl", by Andrew Hicks. A very different take on Thai/farang relationships. A best seller.
Finally "My Thai Girl and I". My favourite book on Thailand. A collection of Andrews blogs from his "Thai Girl" blog.

In my first few years here, with poor internet and no Kindle, I borrowed all sorts from other expats, and found authors and genres I enjoyed that I wouldn't have tried otherwise.

I had a loft full of books to clear out when I came to LoS. After a few years, the house here was looking the same. Then I got a Kindle. Book arrives in seconds, and a vast number of classics are freebies.
P.S. I am not sponsored by Amazon.

Good thread for new ideas, I use kindle on phone and laptop and read lots when Im away working. Kindle books are available worldwide. My recent reads have been Clive Custtler, Ive read everything hes published, Simon Scarrow and Patrick O'Brian. I tend to find a writer I like and stick with them.

I agree and I like paper too, problem is when Im away working I read 2-3 books a week and I can be away for 4-12 weeks, thats a lot of weight to carry around, and I need you 20+kg flight allowance for liquid and battery's lol.

A Kindle is an e-reader. Like you, I like the feel of a real book. But if you read book 1 of a trilogy, then find that Asia Books have book 3, but not book 2, it is a real pain.
You can download books to a tablet, but I prefer the dedicated e-reader. With the leather hard case, it feels good as well.
I often re read favourite books, and I hate to get rid of any of them. I still find it amazing that I could actually carry around every book I have read in fifty odd years in something the size of a tablet, and still have room for thousands more.
    Leo talking. Bed time.

I found that this Kindle is really convenient. You obviously don't get the "real feel" of a book but it is much more convenient. Also the reading comfort is much better than a iPad. If you travel and read a lot @JohnKalasin , have a look into it. The online bookstore is also very complete, hundreds of thousands of books :)

I tried to read eBooks on a tablet but really disliked it (too stressful for my eyes; outside in the sun you can barely see anything). 3 years ago I bought a PocketBook LuxII (with LEDs at the sides, very comfortable to read in dim light) and I still love it. Even in bright sunlight it reads like a paper book. Gave all my paper books away before coming to Thailand - can find almost everything published in the www.
There are a lot of reader on the market

Edit: 95% of books I downloaded are in .epub format!

I read mainly on the Amazon kindle as provides you the flexibility and less bulk to carry. But love the smell of paperbacks as well.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. Nothing goes over a real book. I found some second hand bookstores here in Udonthani, where you can be lucky to find the real thing once in a while. But i also use my LG 8" tablet to read some books i downloaded. With the right apps, you can read different formats, so again you have a bigger freedom, and lot's of classic books are provided for free from different sources. But nothing beats a real book trust me.
