1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.

Ok, so this is now my new favorite site. The more I vape, the more I get into vaping and I am tired of other forums where everyone bickers over Thai politics :yes or no:

Anyway, was just curious how discrete TeV members are when vaping in public. Personally, if I am at a bar or friends house then I am normally not bashful at all. But, if I am in a place were I find myself getting strange looks of curiosity I find myself stealth vaping. At malls and most other indoor venues I simply go to the restroom and take a few hits in a stall or walk outside. At the resturant I eat lunch everyday I just puff at the table but hold it a bit longer so there is not a show and blow it downwards as to not draw extra attention. I think they know what it is as they have never so much as questioned and see that I dont go outside for my usual smoke anymore. A few weeks ago I was at a girly type bar with a few friends  (not the boom boom place, but the place where they wear short skirts to sell you over priced beer) and one of the young ladies was staring at me a bit. I am no Brad Pit, and dont really dress to impress so I was sure it was my itaste that caught her eye So I showed her my devise (get your head out of the gutter :ha ha ha:) and she starts asking if its "yaba." Made me wonder how many Thai's think I am taking drugs when I vape in public.

I also put it away when I see the police :police: I dont think most of them even know what it is let alone know its illegal but why take the chance.

Anyway, would love to hear your experiences. :vaping:

I vape openly when I'm at a pub or football match. Of course with the football games I vape outside, not in the stands. I've never had any problems aside from stares and pointing, but as a farang I'm used to that already anyway.

If you Vape like you did smoke cigarets in TH than i think it will be no problem anywhere. So far i made experience from people looking at what it is out of curiosity. Couple day's ago at the Suvanaphum airport after arrival i went outside were the smoking areas are, just a bit away from them i had a nice Vape in front of 4 officers who did not even bother looking at me.
Yesterday i ended up giving a Jung man asking about were to get this whatever it is, on ego, clero and juice which i don't use any longer. Hopefully he gets of the smokis....

I vape the same way as I use to smoke. In my house during the day I vape outside, and during late evening/night I vape in the kitchen area. Which is outside the main house. Since my wife was allergic to smoke, I just continued vaping the same places where I did smoke.

In public, I always go out of the restaurant when I need to vape and the same goes for shopping centres. I find the smoking areas and vape there. So fare I have not have a problem with that. I just followed a friend who visited me in maj and actually is the reason, that I started to try vaping. He just did the same and I just followed his example.

its a gray area, there is no law about it, the nicotine is a medical supstance thats way it cant be imported(without licens) and for the mods iam not sure but i dont think it is a problem other than the customs tax, i been looking for the post with the link to the newspaper with the bangkok police saying that it is ok to use in thailand....:vaping:

The article above states the all known rule here in TH. Keep a low profile and no one bothers you.....It's not that Vaping is unknown to officials. TH officials aren't living behind the moon and however might think this way would have sooner or later a problem will it be it Vaping or else what. We as expats are guest in a very open minded traditional living country and respect is the mother of sounding the ton you will have to listen to:vaping::vaping:.

Good to know it's not actually illegal to do or own the equipment for. I live in Pattaya and the use of ecigs, rather than the full on vaoing equipment, is becoming more and more noticeable.

I personally have never seen anyone have a problem but then I am not out every night either.

I vape openly wherever I imagine it is acceptable to do so. Common sense rules!

Not in restaurants. Bars ok, only if the owner is ok with it. No harm in asking. When I do go out, I usually go to my mate's bar and he is fine with it.

Some others aren't. Basically it is considered smoking and they can get fined just as they could if you were caught smoking a cigarette in a bar by the boys in brown.

Always be careful around big shopping centres in Sukhumvit - like MBK / Siam etc., as the cops are always looking for some unfortunate farang smoking in an unsigned "no smoking" area.

At least they won't be able to get you for dropping your butt now!!..:very good: - not that I ever did it. But I know many who did get done.

Some good posts above. :very good: So far I am happy that it seems people and the industry is trying to put up its own boundaries so the government doesnt need to step in.:police: As I stated in the OP, I dont vape in indoor public places and would hope others refrain as well. if people get something to complain about the rules will almost certainly go over and above social protocol.

I am also happy that even though there is no specific laws on the books in the USA, EU, or other places; the industry has agreed not to sell to under 18 year olds. :bravo:

Sometimes I hope they would set official ground rules so we could all just know and there would be no controversy, but I am always scared what ground rules they will set..... :no trust:

p.s. i love all the smileys on this site :thank you thank you:good idea::A+::unbelievable:

Public toilets are great places for vaping. At the shopping mall or any public building really.

Go the the toilet, sit on the cubicle, read and post messages on the forum and vape.

The vapour dissipates so quickly no one else knows what your doing.

I'm typing this in the toilet at Thammasat Hospital where there are stickers every 5 meters stating that smokers will be fined 2,000baht
