1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.
Are you looking to get started or an old hand at vaping? Everyone is welcome here so sign up today and talk vaping with us!

    Hi Folks,

Vaping newbie here - wife bought me an el-cheapo eGo-CE4 from the night market the other day along with a couple of (pretty expensive) bottles of Ritchy "LIQUA"; one @ 24mg (which doesn't appear flavoured) the other a 12mg cherry.
Weening myself off a 23 year stinky habit of 10-20/day (depending on how much Chang's floating around!). A tried e-gigs a few years ago (maybe five) and got nothing more than a head-ache, but this actually seems to be hitting the mark.

Tried 3 "experimental" cigarettes yesterday (Wonder menthols) and was delighted to find that they:

    a) - tasted totally disgusting
    b) - didn't really give me a better "hit" than the CE4

Going to see if I can go completely without today - we'll see what happens. Just ordered a collection of 16mg's online & hoping this can do the trick for the time being. Want to lower nicotine intake as rapidly as possible - from what I've seen here it'll take 2 weeks to kick the 'bacco & maybe another 2 weeks to nail the nicotine?

Anyhow - thanks for a wonderful forum! :)

Welcome to this forum. Since I have been busy writing to the politicians in Denmark about the new European TPD Tobacco Product Directive or as i call it the Terrible Product Directive here a little graph, that shows how much nicotin there is in the blodstream of a smoker after one cigaret compared to a vaper, who vapes 18 mg e-juice. That says it all. The 1.generation is a cig alike and the second generation is an Evod tank on e eVic at 9 watt.

Thanks for the nice welcome guys! :)

Dieter - pretty interesting chart there; suggests to me that nicotine inhaled from a vapouriser takes longer to get into your system, but logically once there has a more sustained effect meaning you don't need to go scabbling for a cancer stick every half our or so?

Let's see! I have an acid test, since I wrote earlier about attempting a stink-free day, by son-in-law's cousin has turned up with a bottle of whiskey. There both outside chuffing away at "Winstons" (POOHEY!) whereas I'm pretty content with my CE4 currently on charge :D - I'll let you know how I get on! ;-)

I smoked similar amounts to you, 1st month I used 11mg nicotine, 2nd month down to 6mg - I think I will stick to that level for now but plan to reduce down to 3, then 0. I don't touch cigarettes now and hope I never will again.

It takes approx. 35 minutes of vaping to reach the same nic level in your bloodstream as a stinky.
Not so sure about that...if you vape non-stop for 35 mins and then stop vaping, you'll probably want to vape again in somewhere between 30-60 mins (as you would with the next cigarette). But in reality, since vaping tastes/smells so much better than stinkies, most of us just vape whenever we want to...YMMV

Bear in mind that it takes a couple of weeks or so for the other addictive crap in stinkies to get flushed from your system. After that, the only craving left should be for nicotine and since that is no longer paired with its 'amplifiers', that craving should diminish with time as well. For the time being, you should vape as much as you want/need, and at a high enough nic level to overcome the craving for 'the other sh*te' until that passes. Then you can assess whether you want to lower your nic level. I started w/juice at 16-18 mg and after a year, I lowered it to 12 mg...and that's where I still am.

FWIW, we've got another member who's about 2 weeks ahead of you...his experiences may help you!

    Hi Chaps,

Had a big reply, but it got stuck on the 5 points.

Thanks again for the support, managed to get until 3.00am our time; actually the "Wonder" was great - or maybe just nice to get out & stretch my feet.

I was a little piss*d to find that the missus had turned off the PC; not going to wake her again to find out why, but I'll count this as a day without cigs but today starting with one.

Hi welcome to a forum with truly helpful folks wishing to spread the good news -

I've started vaping nearly 3 weeks ago - switched from a 20 stick a day habit the last 20 years immediately - Wat made a big difference for me was getting a good rig ( kanger sub tank ) and good tasting premium juice tat tasted and satisfied good -

With a good setup and sub ohm vaping - started at 6mg and seems to be fine till now but as others wiser pointed out - don't worry about Nic content - go with whatever satisfies -

I think when vaping u have to change ur mindset wrt any guilt feelings associated with smoking - don't punish urself emotionally every time u have a vape , same as u would otherwise if u smoked when trying to quit - it's an enjoyable habit in itself esp with the flavours available n soon the brain will adjust.

First three days I got extremely dehydrated with chapped lips so drink water but that subsides quickly

First few days living with smokers meant I had the occasional 1 or 2 puffs off my gf cigarette and in a few days I realized how smelly n revolting smoking is -

Major point is I don't feel it being a struggle - plus all this forum fact finding and fiddling with equipment n researching ejuice reviews helps keep the nicotine addicts mind occupied -

Vaping's a life changer for me enjoying leaving house without looking for lighter/cigarettes - looking for ashtrays etc.

And the litmus test for me was indeed having a few Leo's and perfectly happy with my vaping

Stick with it - a whole thai based forum of people claiming it works and easy can't be wrong .... Let alone the huge online vape community

Two days ago marked three months since I stopped smoking. Not one single cig in this time period. Despite so many attempts during my life (14 years old when I started with my first cig in my parents garage and now I'm 62) using patches, gum etc. and always failing dismally, the transition to vaping as actually fairly easy--and fun too !! True I wasted money on poor cheap gear to start with, and bulk amounts of juice I do not like--but now I KNOW there is no going back. My takeaway--always do good research first/join a forum such as ThaiVapors and positively gain from the information and experience of others first.

Stick with it, and don't worry about the odd stinkie. I've found stopping with vaping is nothing like other methods, where you have to quit totally once you start with the gum, or patches, and the first illicit cig sets you back to square one.
I cut down drastically after my first vape, but it took me a few weeks not to have a packet of stinkies around "just in case". Finally I went to bed knowing I had just one cig left. Smoked it with a cup of tea when I got up, and cleared out all my smoking stuff. I even found a couple of old roll ups in a tin and smoked them. Since then, zilch.

All the time, I was supported by encouraging replies to my posts from other members, which helped enormously. Keep posting your progress reports. Good luck.

Sorry to ramble on (c. Led Zeppelin), but find a good starter kit as soon as you can. The friend, who first gave me the idea of vaping, has an old e-ciggy cheapo thing, and after nearly a year, he's still 50/50 stinkies and vaping. I tried it and preferred L&M red!
The starter kits for new vapers thread is a good place to start.

    Your're a fantastic bunch of gals & guys :)

Haven't had a cig since I got wrenched out for that funeral the other day so I guess I'm doing OK. Even with the odd beverage which really amased me - that's always been the real clincher, but no; get that "yittyttittyickyarcgh!" (nicotine craving) feeling, and just pop up the dose to 24mg and I'm sailing again. For the most part doing 16mg "Feellife". My wife keeps nabbing my CE4 for a quick tasty suck, and I have to remind her that it's got nicotine in it!
Must admit to a bad throat, not terrible - everyone here appears to be suffering something; maybe the weather. Lot of coughing going on in other quarters. I feel that (I guess accordingly to Deiters graphs) I can leave the CE4 alone much longer without feeling the craving of a cancer stick. :)

    Cheers Mick :)

I've wanted to give up for a while. Smoking definitely killed my father and probably didn't help my mother who died of differing form(s) of cancer 3 weeks prior to him. One of the affect I found smoking cigarettes was a somewhat disaffected bowel - that seems to have subsided since I started vaping. No clue what's in cigarettes, but it never did my guts any favours! :(

    Fantastic Nick!

Hoping I can pull myself away pretty swiftly too; no more fags for me - I'm going straight ;)

    - Yes! I feel bare without a lighter in my left pocket lol! :D
