1. Welcome to Thailand Vapers, an English language forum for members in Thailand and the rest of Asia to talk about vaping.
Commonly referred to as e-cigarettes, vaping is really about the use of personal vaporizers (mods) and atomizers (tanks, clearos, RBAs, RDAs, RTAs) filled with e-liquid.
Are you looking to get started or an old hand at vaping? Everyone is welcome here so sign up today and talk vaping with us!

It was great meeting @BuzzSamui and @Moog. Lamai still has some of the old-style Thai charm that has disappeared completely from Chaweng (which reminds me more & more of Phuket). Sorry I wasn't able to join up on Sunday to meet @Neilly - - had to rest up after the Saturday night shenanigans for the drive back to Bangkok on Monday, which was brutal (765 km).

Hope to see all you guys again (including @sammy) at a future vape meet in BKK or Fun City...there are direct flights from Samui to U-Tapao airport just south of Patts.

Yep, if you wait to buy them late, they are a bit steep...they're not so bad with an advance purchase.

11.5k to depart next month. Then when you get there there are a gazillion taxi drivers all eager to have your pants down.

I lived there for a couple of years, if I ever went back I would fly to Suratthani and get the boat across just out of principle.

That is if you have time, Rick. You easily lose 3 hours with that option. For a 2 days stay, it just doesn't worth it.

Geez...that'll get you Biz Class on certain days. Lowest fare looks to be about 6.6k depending on the days of travel. Weekends are higher (naturally).

Frankly, I'm in no hurry to go back there again...would rather try Krabi or somewhere a little less developed (i.e., no Central Festival).

    Sure.
I have a reason to go back to Samui but have put it off for 7 years due to not wanting to take either option.

Not too pressing of a reason I guess... ;)
The overnight train out of BKK is another option...did that once, too.

Train was an option too, about 1200B 1st class isn't it?
I think a flight to Suratthani, return, is about the same

Other options are just time managing. The direct flight is so convenient but indeed you have to drop some cash to enjoy the privilege. I went by night train once as well, interesting experience with friends but won't do it alone.

I once dropped 10k on a taxi from BKK in December 2004. We stopped off to get his wife on the way. Left at 11am, got there around 11pm.
I'd never do that again. He's probably still living there telling the story of the crazy faring he picked up and took to Samui just so he didn't give any money to Bangkok Air.

^^^ Yeah, it's a brutal drive in one go. I won't be in a hurry to do it again any time soon either.

Actually I think it was quicker than that because I seem to recall the last ferry being at 7pm. Horrible drive, even as a passenger with a taxi driver's wife pampering you all the way.

Don't even want to know what that consisted of... ;)

I can just imagine what the roads were like in 2004...not that brilliant now so it must have been sheer hell then.
