Fasttech Ordering

Hey All,

I see varied experiences with Fasttech and I wanted to add mine to the list. Yes, they take payments through PayPal and you can use whichever method/card you want to. Jessica, my particular customer service agent wanted confirmation of my PayPal payment as a jpeg or pdf (chose the latter of the two because it's a locked doc) and also a means to verify my ship-to address in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia. I sent her a link to the place's Trip Advisor and the page upon which I wrote a review on it a while back along with uploading, not emailing the requested documentation directly to their site server as instructed in one of her emails with the link to do so.

Understand: My bank in MO, USA will not allow me to place any kind of payment/order online using my debit card as the incidence of internet fraud in South Asia is astronomical. The only way I can open up my debit card for internet usage is to sign a document indemnifying my bank from fraudulent use and damage recovery. Needless to say; I ain't about to do that! My credit card, on the other hand, works fine for this type of transaction.

Further: If you are frequently using internet cafes and wifi hotspots at restaurants, hotels, etc., I would highly recommend investing in a VPN. I subscribe to PIA annually. Read the wiki and check out the site and also the reviews on the company. I won't bore you with the details here, but the kids know what they are doing and you could be writing to one of them in any of these kinds of places and have not a clue as to where your stories and/or cc info is going. The theft process is entirely transparent, right down to the HTTPS protocol indicated in your browser's search bar. So, don't say I didn't tell ya... CYA, cya...

We'll see how the Fasttech order goes and will report. But yes, being a citizen from one country with foreign accounts and shipping addresses to other countries will always require a little explanation and/or extra effort to process. Illumn? No problem on the batteries. Smooth as silk, but I called them first, so they knew ahead of time about my intentions and what needed to happen.

Normally when paying by Paypal at Fasttech you will place your order and pay for it to ship to your home country and address. Then you go to "Your Orders" on Fasttech's site and cancel the order accepting a gift certificate. Then you re-place the order with your correct shipping address in the Country you are residing and pay with the Gift Certificate. The other thing you can do is just buy Gift Certificates paying with Paypal and use them to pay for your orders. It sounds like a pain in the butt but it really isn't too bad. Paypal has specifically blocked Thailand from allowed shiptos on foreign accounts.

 

Hi Rev! It wasn't really that involved. I didn't have to do the gift certificate cancel/re-order/change ship-to as you had said. And, the tone of the cs rep's email was certainly pleasant enough. So, I just did what they asked. Again... we'll see how it goes and I'll follow up with the progress here and share the results. I ordered an Opus BT-C3100 v2.2 charger and a couple of deck ohm tester-base-building thingies for 510 threaded pins.

 

Yep, takes not more then 2 min as you are able to select the items from the canceled order via "reorder" tab and just adjust the qty's to the original ones, all done deal. That easy.

 

I found I could just check out using my PayPal country address, then once the transaction had completed change the delivery address to my Thai one (even though the system says you can't do this).

 

And Taotoo, did you have any issues with Thai customs when your order came in? Anything out of the ordinary in order to pick up your package?

 

No problems at all - delivered right to my door.

 

I'm sure that's good news for everyone here! I got an email yesterday from Fasttech about my order, but the message had no content. I wrote back to them and included the empty email with their header and asked about the status of my order.
