Excellent piece of kit. I have three of them: one in copper, one in brass, and one in SS (that I use for parts).

Nemesis is a good choice. Another advantage to it is that there are so many accessories for it.

Yes the Nemesis is pretty much a landmark in mech mod. Can't go wrong, spare parts easy to find too. Probably the least original of all though.

If it's your first, go with the Nemesis IMO.

I must be an oddball. I ordered the Nemesis on my first Fasttech order along with the copper Stingray. The Nemesis just screamed cheap "piece of crap" from the first time I picked it up. The spongy, creaky spring in the button, The super fine .5mm threads that took forever to screw in and the cheesy engraving of the reaper. I tried upgrading with the magnets in the button but still couldn't stand the thing. I'm not sure what it is that everyone seems to love about it unless mainly the nostalgia of their first mech mod. My money would be on a praxxis if I was to go get a new mech today. This post isn't to rile anyone up. It's just been one of those things I've never been able to understand.

Btw.... before you buy the magnets to upgrade the button.... I'll mail you a set should you want them.

The Nemesis is very flexible but I know what you mean.
I think it's a decent choice due to its versatility alone.

Praxis has one of the worst switches ever, well mine did.

The only mechanical I recommend is the SMPL (78mm). But as this is a "first mech" thread I won't recommend anything :D

I've heard the switches can be a pain if not good.... and even the good ones take a couple weeks to break in real nice. The super low voltage drop and the resistance to pocket fire accidentally without having to lock it are what have me seriously eyeballing it. I love my FUHattan and AR Mod but I'm looking for a good pocket friendly mech that burns hot.

One thing to add... those Pegasi hit like a train!

I think the Nemesis is old and doesn't stand close to what we can get now. However it is discussed in so many website and forum that any issues can be quite easily fix.

It offers a feature that I hate which is a lock ring mechanism, however for someone using mech for the first time, I can only encourage getting a mod with such a feature.

So while I still don't like the Nem, I would recommend it for a first mod.

The Stingray is much nicer IMO but I am not sure it is as easy to get spare parts.

SMPL is from far the best mech outhere IMO, technically speaking. ConsideriNH that you also like that slick design.

But size and performance is better than any other mod I have owned/try. Not for beginner though (no switch lock).

I was looking online and they said that the fasttech version and the hcigar version are two different ones and the hcigar ones are better in terms of quality compared to the ones off fasttech. This was pretty valuable in terms of helping me as i was almost going to buy a nemesis clone from fasttech as they are so much cheaper.

the FUHattan is a sexy mod if i do say so myself!

isn't the fire button recessed? so it would not really matter as it would be harder for it to pocket fire as the button is out of the way?

My spare parts Nemmy is a Fasttech one. When side-by-side with the HCigar ones, you can feel and see the difference. Get the HCigar one. Well worth the extra money.

I had the copper Pegasus (not the same one Big has which IIRC has a better top cap [floating pin?]).
It's a very good mechanical. Hits well. Just need to be careful with the threads and over-tightening.

Well I must say that my only experience was with the fasttech one so I just ask that one day I get to feel a nice one in person at a Vapemeet :)

It is recessed, yes. But while it make it harder to randomly fire, it is far from being as efficient/safe as a locking ring. If you are used to mech htough, no prob at all indeed, pretty safe :)

Never auto-fired on me in almost 12 months of usage but it's certainly possible.
